Free Music Notes for New Favorite

Free Music Review: Perfection
Hit: 5 Stars

This is the best album I have ever owned. As I child, I always cringed when my father would play the twangy style of bluegrass that was popular at the time, but "New Favorite" has opened my eyes, and ears, to the depth and power of bluegrass. I have never known music that could speak to the soul like the songs on this album do. The very notes themselves tell a story, before the lyrics are even begun.
My husband and I do disagree on certain aspects of the album. He prefers the songs that feature Alison Krauss's angelic vocals; I prefer the songs featuring Union Station (particularly the ones sung by Dan Tyminski). All the songs, however, are amazing, and I thought the album was cleverly arranged, alternating A.K. songs with U.S. songs.
I have given this album as gifts to others who really appreciate fine musicianship, and all have loved it. I really can't praise this album enough!

Free Music Review: Another 5 star CD
Hit: 5 Stars

New Favorite is the newest cd by Alison Krauss + Union Station. Other reviews have rated it as a 4 star cd just because it doesn't quite meet up to the standard of the Now That I've Found You Collection or perhaps So Long So Wrong; however, that does not change the fact that it is an excellent recording. I do wish that she would include some songs similar to the style of Tonight I'll Be Lonely Too & Sleep On from Now That I've Found You to show more of her vocal range. She is not the lead singer on every song on this cd and there is one instrumental.(Unfortunately, for some reason, she does not have a fiddle solo like the one in Little Liza Jane.) If you like beautiful music or you just need something to calm you down on you drive to and from work buy this cd. One last note. As with Forget About It there are no spiritual songs on this cd.

Free Music Review: Worth sharing with all your firends
Hit: 5 Stars

I liked this album very much when I first played it. Like its predecessor in my collection, "Forget About It," I kept playing certain cuts over and over ... especialy in the middle of the night. (Good thing my neighbor is a patient guy!)

Then I realized I kept playing the whole album again and again as I struggled to finish a paper for a law school seminar. Somehow I slogged through to the end, and I realized these songs were there with me, helping me go forward.

Yeah, the themes are pretty sad. But underneath is this sense of wanting to hang on and go forward, both in the vocals and the music itself. My favorite cut is "Crazy Faith." It's a tribute to hanging on, even when giving up makes more sense.

This album is one of only two I ever gave to more than one person.

Free Music Review: Gems from Bluegrass to Newgrass!
Hit: 5 Stars

Alison Krauss & Union Station are taking the next step in their ever-evolving bluegrass style. With the success of Alison Kraus, Union Station/Soggy Bottom Boys as well as Nickel Creek, Bluegrass & Newgrass are becoming favorites for those who once considered themselves as purely Country & Western fans.

I found the CD to start out on a superior note with Alison's 'Let Me Touch You for Awhile' and 'The Lucky One' with solid bluegrass numbers from Dan Tyminski and Union Station in 'The Boy Who Wouldn't Hoe Corn' and 'Choctaw Hayride'.

The CD continues with pure blugrass mixed in with Alison's ballads. I really enjoyed the CD during the first listening and have appreciated it even more after each hearing. I place it with 'So Long, So Wrong' as one of her best works.

Free Music Review: BikerBarRadio.Com Give BIG!thumbs up to Alison and UnionS
Hit: 5 Stars

I could have tried to be faster... but this was playing on BikerBar Radio a full 30 minutes after it was released!! ( wish it could be faster!! ) Like all of their CDs... this is Real REAL! country... as country and as gorgeous and professional as any music that is written today. Alison's voice is gorgeous as always with a balanced list of 13 songs with no fillers. I very much love the last song written by Welch/Rawlins. It is nice to hear the REAL "Soggie Bottom Boy", Dan Tyminski, singing a little more also.... NICE NICE stuff!!

As always when I occationally review a CD... there is no attempt to be clever....write a historical document... wow you with reasons.. JUST BUY THIS CD!.. you are already a day late!!!

Michael
