Free Music Review: The Pure Sound of Happiness
Hit: 5 Stars

No matter if you are a brand-new or seasoned fan of bluegrass, you must add this bluegrass album to your collection. As said in previous reviews, the musicianship is stellar--no one person stands out above the rest because the group members are all so talented together.

The violins and mandolins soar. Alison Krauss's voice is from another world--you will never experience another voice as sweet and pure. It's spun sugar.

The songs "The Lucky One" and "New Favorite" stand out in their contemplative, melancholy sweetness. The emotions of these songs are so much more complicated than the usual pop we're inundated with today. The song "Stars" is a hopeful and lovely Dan Fogelberg cover and one of my favorites on the album.

Free Music Review: Gimme an "A"! Gimme a "K"! Gimme a "U"! Gimme an "S"!
Hit: 5 Stars

This is definitely my new favorite AKUS record. So much longing in Alison's voice. She transports us. Ron Block's song is, as always, stirring and inspiring, and his playing is magnificent. Jerry Douglas soars, and Barry Bales is the best bassist in bluegrass. Now to the person from Greensboro who takes issue with Dan Tyminski's voice... are you high? Are you nuts? Should you get down on your knees and ask God to show you the light? Or should you just slap yourself? Dan's voice is a rare gift. He has taken on the mantle of Ralph Stanley, and we are all fortunate that this young feller has arrived on the scene.
If you are a fan of Union Station at all, this record is a must. You won't be disappointed.

Free Music Review: Words cannot express...
Hit: 5 Stars

Alison has a voice that goes straight to my soul, slays it, then resurrects it by sheer beauty, time and time again during each song she sings. The musicians are about as good as it gets. Great technique reigned in by appropriateness and tastefulness. The harmonies are a textbook of pure, seamless blending. They sound so comfortable together, I imagine they are closer than family.

In reading the other reviews, I am stunned that anyone gave it less than 5 stars. I feel priveledged

to have lain down my [price] for this one.

If you are new to this group, I envy you. There is buried treasure to be mined here on Amazon. "Forget About It" and "Now That I've Found You" would be good places to start.

Free Music Review: Very well done
Hit: 5 Stars

New Favorite could very well be her best studio effort.
She comes up with some great songs. Her band including Jerry Douglas on dobro are in top form. Douglas with his expertise on dobro turns a very good group into the top Bluegrass band in the world.
Among them are, Let me Touch you for Awhile, The Lucky One.
My personal favorite, Bright sunny south which is a civil war song. Take me for the longing is another great song and the title track, New Favorite. This was the precocessor to the Live album that went into orbit in record sales.
This is an outstanding CD and shows Alison and the group in top Music Review: A Big Hand for Jerry's Dobro
Hit: 5 Stars I won't bother to repeat the well-deserved praise already heaped upon this album by many previous reviewers, but I do want to call attention to the exquisite, achingly beautiful dobro playing by Jerry Douglas, Union Station's newest member. A virtuoso of the highest musical order, Douglas adds a wonderful element to the AKUS sound with his sensitive backing and heart-wrenching solos, providing the perfect complement to Alison's moving vocals and, for me, elevating the group's sound to whole new level. The production quality on this album is also the best yet, approaching true audiophile quality. A truly satisfying musical experience in every way.
