Free Music Notes for Lonely Runs Both Ways

Free Music Review: Grammy Lock
Hit: 5 Stars

I haven't even bought the album yet but have heard it in its entirety. I was shopping at a local record store 2 days ago
and just happened to catch the album at the beginning over the store's speaker system. It took me over an hour to "browse" just so I could keep listening. When I asked a clerk what was playing, she knew right away. I said to her "Alison better start preparing her Grammy acceptance speech for best album". The clerk, dressed in goth-like wear smiled and said "I know, everyone who has heard it from punkers to classical fans has basically said the same thing". It will be the first Alison Krauss album I've ever bought - think I'll have to go back and check out her earlier recordings.

Free Music Review: Smart and Beautiful and Talented Allison
Hit: 5 Stars

I love practically everything they do. Allison and Union Station. I love Bluegrass. Always have and always will. I have all of their CDs except for the newest one released this year. Soon I'll have it. I have a brand new favorite male singer. (Right up there with Don Gibson.) That would be Dan Tyminski. I just love the way he "pushes" those words out. After I found out that wasn't George singing in O Brother, I searched and searched for the song not even realizing it was on a CD I already had. Don't know how I missed it unless I was on the phone or something. I now play it over and over. There are lots and lots in these CDs that I absolutely can't get enough of. I play them all over and over.

Free Music Review: The sheer delight of Alison Krauss and band
Hit: 5 Stars

I keep referring to "that goddess" when I hear her come on the radio or one of her tracks comes on my computer. My colleagues are used to me gushing about her. I say, I first fell in love with this diva as I discovered her in "O Brother, where art thou" and then again in "Cold Mountain". I was terribly hooked and several albums later I am a devoted fan of her and her band. They cannot do wrong, each album is full of fun, superb artistry on several instruments, incredibly good harmonies. What can I tell you? She is at the top of her genre and her contributions to those soundtracks shows a depth she can call on that certify her as a true gem. What a great talent and another great album.

Free Music Review: Wish there were six stars...
Hit: 5 Stars

You know how some albums(OK I'm over 30)aiming for commercial success throw the best material up front in the first four songs. I guess the thought is that you'll listen at Borders or on-line to snippets of the first few tracks and buy the disc - only to find out the last four songs are garbage? I've fallen for it many times - often burning my own copy of the disc without those last few garbage tracks. "Lonely Runs Both Ways" does not follow that formula. In fact the last track ("A Living Prayer") is not only my favorite on the CD but is quickly becoming one of my favorite songs of all time. There is not a weak track on the disc. It starts out strong, stays strong and ends stronger.

Free Music Review: Welcome to the enchantment
Hit: 5 Stars

This, the latest aural therapy from Alison Krauss and Union Station, surpassed my already high expectations. Play with great caution in your car- this is far more distracting than a cell-phone call. Alison and the band take flight on a seamless, magic-carpet ride of magical picking and singing that flows like a river full of longing, loss, and hope. It's all here, from bluegrass drive to perfectly fingerpicked folk to Ron Block's glorious acoustic gospel ("A Living Prayer"), and all of it utterly mesmerizing. If, as I did, you find you want more, the only alternative is to play it again. Believe me, it holds up well to repeated listening.
