Free Music Review: Love it!
Hit: 5 Stars

Alison Krauss and Union Station are absolutely fantastic musicians. It's amazing. I also own their Live album, which is great. The band is so talented, and you cannot ask for more than Alison's voice. She is my favorite vocalist by far. This album is absolutely perfect- with melancholy, haunting, and meaningful songs that fit her voice wonderfully. Her bandmates also did a great job leading on "Pastures of Plenty" and "Rain Please Go Away".

My favorite is "Living Prayer" though I'm not often religious, because it is just so beautiful. If you want to introduce Krauss to a new listener, make them listen to that song!

Free Music Review: Great Album
Hit: 5 Stars

I bought this album for my boyfriend for Christmas because part of his gift was a ticket to see her in concert on the "Lonely Runs Both Ways" tour. I am a huge fan of her Live CD and wanted to be familiar with the new music we were going to hear. i listened to it some before the show but after attending her show on Jan. 21 I love this album even more. She has amazing talent and along with a miraculous bunch of musicians they sound like a dream. This album to me is just as good as all others. It is somewhat slower than some past numbers but the quality is no less. Anyone AK fan would be silly not to purchase this album.

Free Music Review: Beautiful, as always
Hit: 5 Stars

Like every other Alison Krauss CD that I've heard, this is an album to wear out listening to. Every track is a gem (but I specifically prefer "Gravity" - the first song on the album, an ode to a wandering spirit, for its simple lyric and beautiful melody, and the haunting "It doesn't have to be this way", about a lover who is too scarred by the past to stick around). I agree with another reviewer that this album is very similar to previous albums, so if you're looking for something different from AKUS, this is not the album for you. However, if you are looking for clasic Alison Krauss, this is highly recommended.

I love this band and maybe I've lost all objectivity because I enjoy the music so much. This one's a bit quieter but has all the elements that make Alison Krauss and Union Station so great: Alison's vocals, Jerry's dobro as usual, but "Restless" shows great use of Dan's mandolin playing (the mandolin providing the beat). "Goodbye Is All We Have" has an expansive feel to it, like you're riding down a country road with the windows rolled down and it's dawn and you have the road to yourself. Great fiddle on "Unionhouse Branch" and Dan's vocal on Woody Guthrie's "Pastures of Plenty" make the song his own.

I am a recent convert to the music of AKUS. But whatever kind of music you like, if you enjoy fine musicianship, this is a group you should listen to. In this Worlds' current rut of disposable music and singers who rely on affected vocal runs to prove their talent. Alison Krauss lets loose with crystal clear vocals that remind you that vocal music can be pure and sweet. The incredible musicianship of the group makes me think of (pardon the comparison) Steely Dan in the way that you can hear different musical adventures going on in the music depending on which instument you are focusing attention to.
