Free Music Notes for Lonely Runs Both WaysFree Music Review: Can't get enough Hit: 5 Stars
I first heard Alison Krauss on Down to the River to Pray about 7 months ago. Her voice and the harmonies with Union Station were so beautiful, I've become hooked. As a woman in my fifties I don't buy alot of CD's or find much that really is worth spending my money on but I can't get enough of AKUS. Each CD is different and when I commute to work I can't decide which to listen to. I've purchased nearly all of their CD's and the more that I listen the more that I like. I've become a "groupie!" Thank you AKUS for sharing your talents. By the way, I have never reviewed anything on the internet.
Free Music Review: Another Glowing Effort Hit: 5 Stars
Alison Kraus and Union Station long ago set the benchmark for quality and musicality in the modern bluegrass/country genre. Each song on this album has Kraus' characteristically soaring vocals (except for those where she does not sing of course) and Union Station is as exacting as ever. The pulse of the album speeds and slows at a pace that makes this a pleasure to listen to at nearly anypoint, though don't go playing it for your next 'country style' party.
In today's world, albums like this are few and far between - so relish in each song and enjoy.
Free Music Review: Achingly Compassionate Music Hit: 5 Stars
This is the third AKUS I have bought. There have been a few songs in my life which get better with every listen. Tom Rush's "No Regrets" is one as is John Hiatt's "Icy Blue Heart". From this CD I'll add "Goodbye Is All We Have" to the list. I can't get it out of my head and don't want to. Would love to know more about Sarah Siskind who wrote the song, but there's not much out there about her. Regardless, AKUS has created a timeless masterpiece. Douglas' dobro and Alison's voice seem to support and feed each other. Absolutely wonderful CD and highly recommended.
Free Music Review: Great Writing, Great CD Hit: 5 Stars
I have all of Alison Krauss's CDs and this one is no different. They all are great music. There is such diversity on this CD. Alison and her sweet voice and Dan with his mountain voice, straight from the blue grass hills. He is my favorite. Also, Ron Block adds two tracks that are well written and one that he sings very well on. The group is keeping up the pace they had with "O Brother" and their last live CD. I recomend this CD to ANY music lover that appreciates quality volcals, quality musicians and quality writing. A must have!
Free Music Review: Yet another great CD from AKUS!!!! Hit: 5 Stars
Having been a fan for a long time, Alison & Union Station deliver
another great CD. I'm sure it will win several awards.
Although there are a number of songs I like on this one,
the song "living prayer" is something special....
It has such a wonderful message, and Alison's voice is so pure & strong. Two thumbs up for Ron and his song writing abilities,
and Hats off to Alison & the band for delivering such listening
pleasure to my ears.
