Free Music Notes for Lonely Runs Both WaysFree Music Review: Doesn't get much better than this Hit: 5 Stars
I was going to purchase this CD anyway, but after seeing Allison do A Living Prayer for the all military audience on Leno on Thanksgiving night, I ran out on Friday and picked it up.
Wow! Not a bad track here, and some are really outstanding. I own over five thousand CDs, and this is going to be one of my favorites for sure. There actually is some excellent music being released these days. Buy this one for sure!
Free Music Review: Genius and more Hit: 5 Stars
Could an angel sing so? Who can wield the Dobro with such skill and sensitivity? The cry of that guitar and AKUS's contra puntal voice/dobro pairings are so profound but simple, strong but nuanced. That sound that hits you in the chest grabs you makes you want to sing, want to cry but always come back for the next offering. Buy this album, buy all their albums, see them on tour. Just experience this wonderful band.
Free Music Review: Another classic AKUS album Hit: 5 Stars
Worth the wait. Four Castleman songs, some original AKUS stuff, a Del McCroury cover, Gillian Welch, Mindy Smity, Alison Brown --a litany of what the best contemporary bluegrass band on earth does so well. AKUS fans will be delighted. Alison's voice has grown, matured, but still has that quiver that makes her sound unique. And Jerry Douglas's dobro has never sounded more expressive. As good as it gets.
Free Music Review: She is the Bomb! Hit: 5 Stars
The first time I heard AKUS was the "Now That I have Found You" CD - blew me away - I think it was the only CD I listened to over a year. Their new album is just as good. The songs are all awesome. I downloaded them into my IPod and I take her with me everywhere. "Crazy as me" and "Gravity" are fantastic songs - the lyrics, her voice, and the music behind it are all in perfect harmony. Love it!
Free Music Review: A winner! Hit: 5 Stars
In the vast desert of main stream music mediocrity this cd is an oasis. This is my 1st exposure to Alison & Union Station thanks to a recent review on NPR. Good music writing, great music maker talent, and a very good job with the recording makes for a very enjoyable listening experience. Can't stop playing it. Others have offered criticism i can find no faults. Just buy the disc play and enjoy.
