Free Music Review: more than metal-core, it's METAL

If you want to like Shadows Fall, but are exasperated with weak vocals; if you bought Killswitch's album but never listen to it because it's not complex enough; if you love Trivium but need more out of the throat vocals; if you love the twin guitar work of Maiden and the technical thrash of (early) Metallica, -THIS ALBUM IS FOR YOU.
Especially if you heard and loved 'This Darkened Heart' - you should have this CD already. It really is fantastic, engaging, and very impressive. These guys not only have melody, they have talent. The dualling riffs and trading solos are worth the money alone. And yes, Phil does an excellent job on vocals. In fact, the entire band makes this album a better one than the last, and, consequently, a better album than all of the other metal-core out there. Trust me, this genre's success will not last, but these guys are more than metal-core, they are METAL; so when the hype that surrounds Killswitch and Co. fades away, this band will truly be All That Remains.

from the first second this album is amazing. Phils vocals go way beyond most other metal bands! i'd say this album is better than This Darkened Heart. if you are a fan of August Burns Red, Trivium, In Flames, As I Lay Dying, Unearth, Lamb Of God, ect... i would deffintly recommend this album.

This Calling - amazing vocals. great way to start off the album. got me hooked right away!
Six - the drumming is insane! this song goes from insanly fast to slower and right back again
Not Alone - again great vocals all the way through. awesome chorus.
basically you could check out any song from this album and see how great it is! Phil can do amazing things with his voice. he goes from having a really hardcore type scream to a softer melodic voice all the way to a gutteral scream. it's amazing what he can do! CHECK OUT THIS ALBUM! you won't be disappointed!

All That Remains previous album, "this darkened heart" should have unleashed these guys to a larger audience, breaking them out for good, once and for all. But, things dont always go as they should, and that release went over a lot of should-have-been fan's heads. But now, Phil Labonte (ex-Shadows Fall) and the boys are back, with an album that CANNOT be missed
Picking up pretty much where "This Darkened Heart" left off, this album is as heavy as weapons grade plutonium. Phil sounds in as good as shape as he ever has, and he excerscises his clean vocal abilities a lot more on this album, which I say is a good thing, even though his clean vocals are on a little bit of the whin side for me, but still good. Check this album out instead of his old band's new one. You will enjoy it A LOT more.

A great effort by this underated New England band. Their previous cd, "This Darkened Heart", was good. But, "The Fall of Ideals", is a few notches better. Honestly, I think these guys are better than both, Killswitch Engage (KSE) and Shadows Fall. Also from the New England region and immensely popular.
The guitar work by Oli Hebert & Mike Martin is impeccable. Though similiar to Shadows Fall's axe tandem, Jonathan Donais & Matt Bachand. Hebert & Martin have expanded upon that formula. Frankly they do it better and with more creativity. Vocalist Phil Labonte displays his versatility on this album. Again, doing it better than vocalist Brian Fair of Shadow's Fall.
I hope with this album. That metal fans become more aware of this band !

i really liked this bands last cd (darkened heart) but i was just blown away by this one,the vocals hit every range singing,screaming and growling and all of which are pretty darn good and fit the songs very well,if you play the guitar you will be blown away by the playing on this cd, WOW!! tons of wicked riffs to make salavate and some pretty tasty solos also.oli is one bad mofo!!these guys are really on the right track and this release will more that fill your need for mad-riff metal (since the last shadows fall was somewhat lackluster and seemed thrown together just to get out of their contract with century media). this will tie us shredheads over until the new unearth comes out and they better at the top of their game to equal this release!!
