Free Music Review: The 'Exile on Main St" of Metal
Hit: 5 Stars

When the Stones 'Exile on Main St' first was released my take on it was that it was ok but nothing great. But subsequent listening revealed more and more intricacies in the lyrics, chord structures, melodies and etc until finally Exile was considered to be a virtual masterpiece of rock music. With Overcome you will have the inevitable complaints from the mall rats who demand that their every vocal be a cookie monster growl. They fail to realize that the essence of metal encompasses far more than growling.
Overcome is a fantastic album that grows on you the more you play it. Countless subtle, almost hidden melodies and rhythms become more and more apparent. I DO believe it is similar to Atreyu's last work, not in tone but in representing the maturation of a band. All That Remains has grown up and released a fantastic work.

Free Music Review: Progressive
Hit: 5 Stars

All that remains is most definitely a remarkable band. The field of music they chose to place themselves in is metal, but it is more of a progressive style of metal. This CD is not as brutal as their others, but in reality, the others were not that brutal to begin with. The guitarist are pure finess, not power chord, riff chugging, no tallent musicians. If your looking for something truly heavy, this will not be your cup of tea. I loved this CD, personally. It sounds to me like they have stuck with their style and progressed upon it. Heavy, melodic choruses, catchy tunes you cant help but sing along with, solos that blow your mind, unique vocal styling, unique song writing, I could go on. I dont think they have changed much throughout their career. I recommend it to anyone who really likes the band. KSE as well.

Free Music Review: A Bright Future Looming Ahead....
Hit: 5 Stars

All That Remains have been in my collection for some time, so upon listening to this album, I was somewhat confused. Here was a new sounding band, refreshed, and moving in a different direction. Could it be true that Phil Labonte can sing so well.....obviously so, and a brave move on his part. I personally came away from this disc wanting to start it all over and listen to it again. For some of the hardcore fans, this will be seen as a move to sell out, or gain radio exposure. However, what I heard was a band that has matured and it pays off. This album reminds me of the band Soilwork, has hints of Killswitch Engage, and a radio friendly element that makes me think of Stone Sour. This disc has something for everyone, and it is well worth the buy.....

Free Music Review: Impressive Melodic Metalcore Release
Hit: 5 Stars

This is the the first "All That Remains" album I've purchased, and I'm very happy I did so! The music presented here is hardcore and riffy whilst still carrying some awesome melodies and progressions. Interestingly enough, my attention was most caught by the frequent key changes in the latter half of the album... Very ear catching! (Reminds me of some of Demon Hunter's more "ballad-ish" work."

All in all, I REALLY enjoyed this album. I'm not a fan boy, hence this is a pretty non-sensational review... but I am quickly becoming a fan of "ATR"s sound and melodic progressions.

Oh, and on a side note, fans of metal will be thrilled with the guitar solos on this album that pretty much replace the standard "breakdown."

Free Music Review: Awesome album...
Hit: 5 Stars

Picked this album up this morning and have already listened to it through 3 times. I am a huge fan of The Fall of Ideals and This Darkened Heart and this album is a great follow-up to those. Phil is singing more now, which isn't a bad thing. He's got a great voice and this really shows his range. Not to worry though, the screams and growls are still there. I would have to put him up pretty high on my list of metal screamers and if you're a fan, it obvious why. He's just got a really powerful voice and it really shows on this album. The guitars here are the same as ever, which means they are tight and precise. The harmonies and solos are just great! Couldn't have asked for a better album from these guys. Solid effort!
