Free Music Notes for So Wrong, It's RightFree Music Review: 3 and 1/2 stars please! Hit: 3 Stars
I would give this 3 1/2 stars if I could, because to me 3 stars is pretty mediocre but 4 is a shade off great. This falls between the two.
I liked Put Up or Shut Up, but I always had this feeling like All Time Low is exactly what people love or hate about Pop Punk: upbeat songs that sound kind of similar and don't really say much or make you feel much.
All Time Low has some things going for them: they have good voices, some catchy sounds, but unfortunately, nothing stands out as great. Holly (Would You Turn Me On) is fun, but you walk away from the album feeling that these guys could never become great at this rate. There's simply too many bands who have that intangible quality that All Time Low lacks. In a sports analogy, they are like the players who play for a number of years but never become a starter or a star, just sticking around by being good enough to be average.
Buy this and you will enjoy the energy, but it'll only serve as a pacifying bridge until your next anticipated punk release comes out.
Free Music Review: All Time Low Hit: 3 Stars
I bought this CD thinking I wouldn't like it. I normally don't tend to listen this style of punk-emo. I like pop-punk bands like "the queers", "screeching weasel", and "the riverdales". All Time is a different style of pop-punk.
I saw them on MTV a few weeks ago playing on the video awards. I thought the song I heard was kinda catchy. I thought it was cool that the drummer was wearing a maryland jersey. I wikipediad them and found them to be from timonium maryland a suberb of Baltimore.
Anyway I've heard this a thousand times on many other pop-punk records. There is nothing that makes this band stand out. I am not saying its bad. Its just not original. If you like blink-182,good charlotte, bowling for soup, and home-grown you'll enjoy this cd.
Free Music Review: Falls far short of the debut EP Hit: 2 Stars
I think their debut EP Put Up or Shut Up is one of the best power-pop CDs I've heard. It's funny and clever, has excellent harmonies and tight production, and the guys were only in their teens so I was expecting great things. This album is lame. It's very repetitive and shallow. A major let-down. Get their EP instead.
Free Music Review: Really? Hit: 1 Stars
Let me preface this by saying that I am a giant pop-punk fan, and have known about All Time Low since before they even had an EP realized due to a friend that knew the members from going to shows at The Recher and Phoenix. While I would never rave about their music, it's enjoyable to listen to, with songs like Circles and Running From Lions (Original Acoustic), and Hit The Lights, being their highlights.
This cd is horrible. Every song sounds that same. That is not a comment about the genre being simple and them sticking to it. It's a comment stating that I have trouble telling when one song stops and another begins, and not in a good way. It seems like this release was completely devoid of effort. I do not recommend this CD and don't understand how its rating is so high.
