Free Music Review: HITS????? Nahhhhhh....But the CD is A hit.

If you only define HITS as being the ones that sold well and still are played on the "OLDIES" radio stations, then the only hits are RAMBLIN' MAN & MIDNIGHT RIDER. The problem is that you have listen to ALL of this CD to really appreciate it. Listen to what it is...Blues, Southern Rock, Red-neck Boogie...Now play it again...but louder...and FEEL what it is!!! I am a big fan of The ABB and used this album to start out. i wanted the classics, i thought this CD was what it was. it does include such classics as "Jessica",Greggs Heartfelt "Midnight Rider" and "Melissa". Now That i am In to the Allman Brothers more and own more albums, i say this one is a great Starters CD. If You want to explore more into the Band, then i suggest "Gold" and "Beginnings". The Allman Brother's Band, as exemplified in their Decade of Hits Album, quientessentially define southern rock. Drawing upon influences from country, blues, jazz, and rock, these incredible musicians produce a greatest hits album superior to its peers. Very few albums can be played all the way through without even an urge to touch the skip button. Anyone who appreciates music will love and admire this great album.Free Music Review: Excellent compilation album

I have never really been a huge Allman brothers fan mostly because my interests lie in other music genres. That said, having owned this CD for many years, I have found that it is one that I often come back to. The muscianship is very good and many of these songs will get stuck in your head. I would think that this would be a very good starting place to get familiar with the classic Allman brothers songs.
