Free Music Notes for Ally McBeal: For Once in My Life Featuring Vonda Shepard

Free Music Review: Another Winner from Vonda and Company
Hit: 5 Stars

As a devoted follower of the TV Series Ally McBeal, I can't help but recommend this outstanding collection featuring Vonda Shepard. If you:

-Have never purchased a Vonda Shepard cd before
-Enjoy the TV Series Ally McBeal and the music
-Get a kick out of the Bisquit's Unisex dance to Barry White's "You're the First, The Last, My Everything."
-Already own the entire Ally McBeal music collection and
-Enjoy well-produced remakes of long-time favorites

you WILL enjoy this cd. Having seen the episode featuring Sting I can better appreciate the duet with Robert Downey Jr. on "Every Breath You Take". The entire collection of cd's is obviously made for Ally fans, and I feel this latest addition better captures the essence of the show, as well as highlighting Vonda Shepard's powerful voice.

"Snakes", written and performed by Robert Downey Jr., is surprisingly fresh and likeable, reflecting his character on the series. I would enjoy seeing him perform this song on the show...I'll just have to keep watching!

Free Music Review: Forget This Has Anything to do with Alley McBeal...this is a soulful Masterpiece to be Rediscovered!
Hit: 5 Stars

Boy! It's been 10 years since this album's release and every so often my wife and I get this cd out and listen to it. It's so good it'll put goosebumps on your skin. It's just a soulful Masterpiece with Vonda Sheppard, Al Green, Tina Turner, Anastacia, Sting, and yes Robert Downey Jr.

This is a collection of soulful covers so excellent the artists have made them their own with their remarkable talent. It's almost a shame that "Alley McBeal" is in the Album's name because many a folk have probably passed on this cd thinking you must be an Alley McBeal fan to enjoy the music. Nothing could be further from the truth. Anyone could appreciate this album that loves great lyrics, great stylistic singing talent, and soul. If you pick this cd up used, you won't believe how much goodness is packed onto this compilation. It is truly one of my favorite cd's of all time because of it's shear power to stir you! Go For It.....you won't be sorry. Oh yea, it's a well recorded cd too--so those with higher end audio gear won't be disappointed.

Free Music Review: Great Listening
Hit: 5 Stars

I have enjoyed this CD so many times in the week since I bought it--it is so evocative of the overall feeling of "Ally McBeal". Robert Downey Jr's contributions make it very nostalgic in light of his subsequent problems.

I really like Vonda Shepard's soothing and polished voice, but have no problem with the addition of other singers - Al Green, Tina Turner, Anastacia, Barry White, and Downey - they only enhance her contributions.

I also liked the wide selection of songs on this CD---a nice variety of music and voices, well-balanced choices.

Shepard's duet "Chances Are" with Downey is so natural and unforced.....it is as if he just walked up to a mike and started singing with her. The Downey-Sting duet of "Every Breath You Take" is so well-blended that it is hard to tell where one voice leaves off and the other begins.

Good listening that will not disappoint.

Free Music Review: Downey is awesome!
Hit: 5 Stars

I bought this album on the release date to own a piece of Robert Downey Jr's talent. I had no idea how awesome the stuff would be! I like Vonda Shepard's recordings and the inclusion of Barry White's "Your the First, the Last, My Everything" because it makes me think of many hilarious excerps from Ally McBeal. Downey sings on "Chances Are" and "Every Breath You Take", which are from episodes in the series and I'm glad to have them on audio to enjoy the entire recordings. The real bonus is "Snakes" written and performed by him. What an incredible talent he has! It's an example of the unique individual he is, as it is different than anything I've ever heard. It doesn't fit into any specific genre of music, in fact he may have created something new. It is a challenge to interpret the lyrics, but such a pleasure listening to it multiple times to do so.
