Free Music Notes for Alone in IZ WorldFree Music Review: moved and touched!!!! Hit: 5 Stars
i first came to hear of iz on a commercial for a childrens hospital here in my area of northeast ohio.my step-daughter had spent a considerable amount of time there and while showing scenes of various children all races, all types of defects, overcoming and smiling;there was this outstanding version of "somewhere over the rainbow" i cried while listening to this 60 second commercial!!!i called the hospital to see just who this was singing and they said iz blah blah blah.anyways,i found this cd,"alone in iz world" and heard the rest of the medley(what a wonderful world) along the with the other songs and still was crying!!! so sorry to hear of his passing and had it not been for my wife and my step-daughters' illnesses,i'd have found iz sooner.i find this cd so soothing as i deal with the stresses of caring for my wife and daughter. thank you IZ!!! and may you rest in the same peace that you have given me. A MUST HAVE FOR ANYONE WITH A HEART!!!!! (looking forward to getting all of iz's catalog of music and video!)
Free Music Review: If you don't enjoy this cd you don't know what real music is. Hit: 5 Stars
Great music has a great following of fans, but what makes even greater music is having a large variety of fans as well. IZ's music can be categorized as Hawaiian music, however it is evident that the music he created is so inspirational, so evocative, so beautiful that it has attracted a wide variety of people (just look at where all the reviewers are from). IZ has a widespread fan base,of people that don't neccesarily like Hawaiian music but like IZ. IZ made real and passionate songs. There is more to IZ than his rendition of "Somewhere over the Rainbow." I think everyone can feel what IZ wanted people to feel through his music, if people are less critical and truly listen. If you study up on IZ and his life you will even more feel the meaning in his songs regardless of whether you understand the Hawaiian language, and you will also experience the pain that Hawaii and the world felt when we lost this wonderful singer and person. If you like real music you will like this CD.
Free Music Review: Stupid white (and other)boys and girls on the mainland....you might pay attention! Hit: 5 Stars
I found IZ via I-Tunes....At first, I knew nothing of him, and his incredible voice truly moved me...I know this sounds hokey, but he reminded me so much of Karen Carpenter (another truly talented star beset with sadness... such talent...) ... his voice was (to me) PERFECT PITCH....I mean, I could have been lisening to Jesse Norman or Agnes Baltsa (Lord, please forgive the spelling)...the sounds were just so pure...I fell in love with this CD... I am a middle aged white Army guy...but it really moved me...I hope he is in a good place with his brother...Your music and your "rap" moved me...As an aside, a friend of mine, Ray Furman, a medic I was with in Iraq died while there in an IED... he was and is an incredible medic and man... he did so much for others... and is sorely missed... he grew up in Hawaii and we discussed Iz many times... I hope somehow he is over the rainbow and is happy...I miss you so...
Free Music Review: Great but please translate/explicate/elucidate the lyrics Hit: 5 Stars
Of course this is a great album, no doubt about it. I have one request, though. Because most of the songs, including their titles, are in Hawaiian, it is very hard to know what Israel is singing. In order to learn more about Hawaii, preserve the fascinating language, and make this album more than just melody, there should be a little translation offered. I suggest maybe a link to a website with the lyrics in English, or a simple word list, or something. I suspect that the embarrassing reality is so few people speak Hawaiian that even the producers don't know the words Israel is using. What a shame! I, myself, would like to learn, but this album does not teach. Perhaps there are those who would say one must simply "feel" Israel's message, rather than interpret it via a dictionary, but come on. This is a dying language. Let's bring it to the masses and keep it alive!
Free Music Review: Outstanding, Beautiful, Soothing Music Hit: 5 Stars
I TRIED to keep this CD unopened in it's new Christmas paper (a gift to me from me for December 25th! 2008). But, on this freezing, wintery Sunday afternoon, I ripped the pretty paper off to give it a spin. I found myself totally (physically and mentally) relaxed and in peaceful awe. Smiles and giggles were summoned along the tracs. He's something else!
This is my second "IZ" CD. I have "Facing Future", and couldn't imagine anything could top it. I think this one does.
I'm still spellbound ...
IZ's voice and spirit moves swiftly into the human heart, fueling one's entire body and soul with his trademark: Pure, Sweet, Quiet LOVE.
I discovered "IZ" only after Tim Russert's death ... but, he's now in my head, and heart ... forever, and ever.
