Free Music Review: Good Second Album

Let me start by saying I have been a fan of Alter Bridge for a while now, I think since right after their first album was released. Blackbird is an album worth purchasing, but I think that One Day Remains is a much better album than Blackbird.
Maybe it's because I'm not a huge fan of the heavier songs, but on One Day Remains, every song was fantastic: musically, lyrically, and I think every song on it is "memorable" in one way or another. As for Blackbird, there were several songs on the CD that really stood out to me, but a few I didn't enjoy every much at all. I felt like the band was sacrificing Myles' talent for the darker, heavier backdrop. Brand New Start, Coming Home, and Before Tomorrow Comes sound more like the first album, and they're some of my favorites of the CD.
I'd highly recommend both of Alter Bridge's albums, but One Day Remains is a truly epic masterpiece I feel wasn't quite matched by Blackbird.

I recently checked this cd out from the library and I think its great.While I would buy the lateset releases from Robben Ford or Joe Bonamassa(and have)rather than buy some newer metal(I turned that task over to my 16 year old son) I have been a fan of Mark Tremonti since the Creed days and have seen ads for this cd in Guitar Player magazine plus an interview with Mark so wanted to give Blackbird a try.I was so happy to hear how good this band is.To me Alter Bridge has all the elements needed for excellent classic sounding metal with a modern edge;Crunchy ballsy sounding riffs(with a few Zakk Wylde approved pick harmonics thrown in) awesome lead work(some nice Schenker influenced wah) and a singer who can actually sing.I wish the local rock radio station(1077 the bone) had the guts to play songs from this cd. It truly seem under appreciated(though I was happy to see the love given here at Amazon).Free Music Review: guitar rock fan

If you enjoy a little harder rock music as I do, you will love this artist. Both CD's we've purchased are highly enjoyable. They are a great sound without being too hard core. I have listened to this cd every single day since I received it for my birthday from a friend back in October 07. The reason I bought this one on Amazon was to send it as a gift to another friend. This is the most amazing collection of songs on a cd that I have heard since I listened to Led Zeppelin back in the day. It is one of those cds that just when you finish one amazing song, another completely different amazing song comes on- and it goes that way through to the end...you just can't pick what song you love the most. I wasn't even an Alter Bridge fan prior to this cd. I am a musician myself and was totally blown away with everything about this cd.
Great production, great music, great musicianship, great lyrics, great arrangement, and (hey hold on to your seats) GREAT LEAD GUITAR SOLOS!!!! I just can't say enough- if you buy this cd and don't like it- I will gladly buy it off of you because I keep wearing my copies out!!! If you love great music- you will love this disc big time.

How many "follow up" CDs have been flops?
Not this one. Alter Bridge's "Blackbird" is an excellent follow-up CD.
Buy it. You'll not be disappointed.
