Free Music Review: I found it haunting and mesmerizing....my first opera music! Hit: 5 Stars
I never liked opera until I watched Amadeus. It has changed my whole attitude. Mozart, indeed, was a great artist.

Free Music Review: A Whitman sampler of Mozart Hit: 4 Stars
Truth be told, classical music--like most other kinds--is best heard in the program context for which it was written. Yet any time you can get Neville Marriner, the Academy of St Martin-in-the-Fields, and Mozart in the same place at the same time, you can hardly *not* go for it.
Like the famous chocolate sampler, you get a few of each flavor but not all you want of your favorite kind.
How then to decide? Well, viewing the rollicking good movie AMADEUS tips the scales towards buying and enjoying this fabulous, if disordered, compilation of the Mozart greats that went into the making of a movie that forever dissed the composer's rep but also gained him some fans among non-classical-listening movie-goers.
For the price you also receive a superb liner booklet that locates each piece within the film's narrative and says a word or two about the music on its own merits.
A winner for Mozart lovers.
Free Music Review: Magnificent Mozart Collection! Hit: 4 Stars
This album can highly be treated as a "Highlight" CD for Mozart. Sir Neville Marriner has always been one of the best to interpret Mozart's music and this has been no exception (good decision from Milos Foreman). Renditions are excellent for 3rd Movement of Piano Concerto #22, 1st and 2nd movement of Piano Concerto #20, Gran Partita, Sinfonia Concerto 1st movement, the Great Mass in C Minor, Figaro 3rd and 4th act pieces and the Requiem to name a few. Sir Marriner's choice of tempo makes them sound better and more fulfilling. The Romanze of the D Minor concerto is simply the best I have ever heard.
Only I wish this would have been a more complete album for the movie. There are other pieces in the movie which are not here. Only for this reason I rate 4 star. Performance wise it would be 5 star! Overall, it is one of my most favorite soundtrack collection even after having the full recordings of the original scores.
