Free Music Notes for Amelie: Original Soundtrack Recording

Free Music Review: Intoxicating as cognac!
Hit: 5 Stars

If you have seen Amelie, you know how you never wanted the magic to end. This CD is going to become a bestseller precisely because it allows those who have fallen under Amelie's trance to visit again that special world. And if you haven't seen the most bewitching movie of the year, you should go right away to see why people are so enthusiastic. But will this unique and oh-so-French music appeal to those who haven't yet seen Amelie? I'm betting it will, as I'm giving the CD to several family members who haven't yet seen the movie. Yann Tiersen has concoted an absolutely intoxicating sound here that features cymblas, piano and (mostly) button accordian. I don't know what the music of the streets of Paris actually sounds like, but I can dream it would be this whimsical, mysterious and lovely.

Free Music Review: Bring the beauty home
Hit: 5 Stars

This soundtrack is amazingly beautiful! The music brings this films to life, and when you listen to the soundtrack on it's own, the essence of the movie just fills your home. This essence has spontaneity, romance, and mystery. It reminds you of a summer afternoon in Paris. I highly recommend this soundtrack if you want to bring some French culture into your home. All of the songs flow together, so there is no skipping tracks involved. It is perfect for the background, or great for listening to while doing absolutely nothing. The soundtrack is as wonderful as the movie, and the songs range from Eric Satie-like piano, to upbeat French dances. The strings, accordion, piano and on some tracks, classic French singing, make this CD a must! One listen and you will be hooked!

Free Music Review: Something for Everyone
Hit: 5 Stars

I have not watched the movie, but let me comment on the music. The other reviewers will tell you how wonderful the music is on this soundtrack. I for one, am not crazy about all of it - it's just not a genre that appeals to me.

HOWEVER, if you have checked out a few of the songs using Amazon's preview, and if you don't care for the first few either, then PLEASE check out the 4th track (Comptine D'un Autre Été, L'après-Midi) as it is very different, and if you are like me, you will find it incredibly beautiful, peaceful, somewhat mesmerizing -- it's a solo piano work of art. If you search the web, you can find a few versions of this and if you play piano, you can find the sheet music for it too. Enjoy (I sure did!)

Free Music Review: The Fabulous Music of Yann Tiersen
Hit: 5 Stars

The best soundtracks are those who doesn't need the imagery of its film to stand on their two feet. I listened this record even before I watched Jeunet's film, and it subconsciously provided me the wonderful touch of magic I later witnessed when seeing "Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain". I must say this is one of the most accomplished soundtracks I listened in years, combining completely different moods and tempos, yet managing to remain coherent. Yann Tiersen wisely choses a wide range of quite unusual instruments and defines perfectly the essence that's behind the joy and happiness of the film. Like "Sweet and Lowdown", which is another soundtrack I love, Tiersen's music has the ability to misplace all your cinicism.

Free Music Review: Charming
Hit: 5 Stars

I know nothing of the language of music to faithfully describe the pieces on this soundtrack. I do, however, love soundtracks and this one faithfully transcribes the happy champaigne-bubbly feeling of the movie and its actress, Tatou, into the poetry of sound. Each track blends well with the next offering the listener an entire CD of Parisian quarkiness and playful pleasure. Amelie's waltz makes me want to stand up and whirl while the rest urges me to take up accordian playing and wind out these musical dreams like a happy organ grinder on a street corner. If you want to recapture the happy charming feel of the movie, do, by all means, by the soundtrack, a bottle of good French wine and a crusty loaf---ENJOY!
