Free Music Review: America - The Complete Greatest Hits...
Hit: 5 Stars

Can't add anything to the praise already heaped upon these gentlemen by the others. Exceptional talent, writing, singing and performing. Just goes to show you how privileged we were to be growing up in the 70's. Real musical talent and skills. Boy, do I miss those days! Five stars!

Free Music Review: Coming to America like they never left
Hit: 4 Stars

Excellent album. I always loved America. This new album sounds fresh without coming off as a redo. Being as I am also a huge Smashing Pumpkins fan, having James Iha on it was a nice touch. Some of the songs remind me of Iha's little heard solo release. This record was produced by Adam Schlesinger, of Fountains of Wayne. With Iha and Schlesinger at the wheel America rolls into the 2000's with a clean fresh sound. Most of the new tracks are just solid soft rock songs that each of which could be a lost B side from the first half of their career in the early seventies. I really like this record, nice job guys. The second disc is a collection of their greatest hits done live at XM studios. It is a typical Live recording. I personally have never liked live records, but not hearing a single clap or whistle after the song starts is very satisfying.

Free Music Review: Classic
Hit: 3 Stars

The main reason i bought this CD was that i heard the song "you can do magic" on the radio. It's a happy sound and i turned it on loud in my car....very loud and sang along.
So i ordered this CD and when i put it on at home, the 70's really come along with all of it's memories. People of my age (46) all know. The sound of this band is sometimes similar to that of the "little river band" (also 70's). Even the way of vocals can be compared. Ok it's a little bit dated but still nice to hear now and then and to sing the songs yourself... that's fun
I give a 3 star rating because the CD is allright, but not more or less. But in case you don't, it is something you should have.

Free Music Review: All of America's Hits Are Here in Remastered Sound!
Hit: 5 Stars

If you've never heard the band America before, then this is the cd to get. I foyu have heard them before, and you alreayd have their 1975 Greatest Hits CD, you'll still want to get this because it has all the hits with state of the art remastered sound, plus it has the early 1980's hit "You Can Do Magic."

If you are not familiar with the band, they have a folky pop rock sound, kind of like a softer, kinder Neil Young. In fact, their biggest hit "Horse With No Name" sounds a lot like a Neil Young tune.

The band also has beautiful vocal harmonies and these are on display on "I Need You," "Sand Man," and "Ventura Highway." Of course, the CD also has "Sister Golden Hair," with one of the most familiar sounding opening acoustic guitar riffs in soft pop history.

Go ahead and purchase this fine disc (and no, I do not work for the band or know them personally).
