Free Music Review: Great Collage Of American Idol's First Season

I watched and recorded every single episode of the first season of American Idol so I obviously had to buy the Greatest Moments compilation. My review song by song is as follows:1. (You Make Me Feel Like A)Natural Woman sung by Kelly Clarkson- I don't really like this song anyway, depending on whose singing it. Kelly doesn't hit the really, really high note on the word "alive" like she did on the show so her cover of this song isn't special at all. Now, Miss Hawaii(Kaoaloni Gibson) sang an AWESOME rendition(high note and all, even higher than Kelly on the show) in the talent competition at this year's Miss America pageant. She was runner-up. 2 stars.
2. Respect sung by Kelly Clarkson- Again, not a big fan of the song. It's worn out. 3 stars.
3. For Once In My Life sung by Justin Guarini- I loved it when he performed it on the show and I love it on the CD. 4 stars.
4. Get Here sung by Justin Guarini- This one is so good it's featured on Totally Hits 2002:More Platinum Hits. I think this was Justin's best performance on the show. It really showcases his tremendous vocal talent. 5 stars.
5. Piece Of My Heart sung by Nikki McKibbin- I love her cool rocker voice. She makes me like this song more than I usually do. 4 stars.
6. A House Is Not A Home sung by Tamyra Gray- Though Tamyra is a great talent, I've never been big on her. She's so- homey, I guess you'd say. She does sing this song nicely even though I'm burned out on it. 5 stars.
7. Lately sung by RJ Helton- I can't stand him! When Christina was voted off and his mediocre butt was still standing up there that did it for me. Mediocre is the word here, folks. 2 stars.
8. Ain't No Sunshine sung by Christina Christian- In my eyes Christina is the true American Idol. I was hoping her rendition of Glory Of Love would be included on this disc but Ain't No Sunshine is equally good. 5 stars.
9. If You Really Love Me sung by Ryan Starr- Ryan was so off key when she sang this the first week they went live it was scary. Her studio version is a really good cover of a Stevie classic. I hope she'll have a successful career in the music biz. 4 stars.
10. My Cherie Amour sung by AJ Gil- This dude wasn't that good from the get-go(better than RJ though). This cover isn't that bad but I've definitely heard better. 3 stars.
11. I'll Be sung by Ejay Day- I'm sure because of his looks, Ejay was one of the first to go along with Jim. Too bad, 'cause with a voice like that he's a producer's dream. He hits higher notes than Kelly! This one is great. 5 stars.
12. Easy sung by Jim Verraros- I don't understand how anyone could've voted him into the top 10 in the first place. zzzzzzzz. I like his version of this song. 4 stars.
13. California Dreamin' sung by one and all- I love this song and I love the collaborarion of the top ten's voices on this cover. 5 stars.
14. A Moment Like This by Kelly Clarkson- I know radio wore this song out for some people but I still adore this song. As you know, Kelly sings this brilliantly. Absolutely, 5 stars.
15. Before Your Love by Kelly Clarkson- Kelly's vocals are extremely strong on this song also. I love it! 5 stars.
This CD is a great wrap-up of the first A.I. I'm disappointed that Justin's version of A Moment Like This isn't included but oh well... Buy this CD and definitely buy Christina Christian's CD when it comes out!
Free Music Review: Great Compilation

This is a great CD and it has something for everybody.Natural Woman - Kelly Clarkson - This is a good song, but honestly it's not the perfect way to open this great CD. I am a bit disappointed by the recording of this song, it isn't Kellys best. But despite that fact, Kelly is an amazing singer. She makes anything sound great. This is my least favorite, yet still not bad. 2/5 stars.
Respect - Kelly Clarkson - Kelly is amazing. Her voice is outrageous on this song. The only bad thing about this song is "RESPECT" is such an overplayed song we're almost all sick of hearing it. Other than that, she did great. 4/5 stars
For Once In My Life - Justin Guarini - My favorite song on the CD. Very easy to listen to and it never gets old. 5/5 stars
Get Here - Justin Guarini - A nice ballad, he did a good job. Never gets boring to listen to. 4/5 stars
Piece Of My Heart - Nikki McKibbin - This is one of my favorite songs on the whole CD. I wish we could hear more from Nikki on this CD because she always performs my favorite songs. I have nothing bad to say about this one.. it's great. 5/5 stars
A House Is Not a Home - Tamyra Gray - Wow...... the most powerful song on this whole CD. How does she do it? I guess we'll never find out. She's amazing, song is amazing. 5/5 Stars.
Lately - RJ Helton - A great performance by RJ. It's a nice slow tempo song and he made it sound "his own." It's great. 5/5 stars.
Ain't No Sunshine - Christina Christian - Ok, let me say this first off.. Christina was my choice for the American Idol. I voted for her a couple hundred times each week. She is amazing, her voice, her look.. she has it all. This is my FAVORITE SONG and I was so happy to see she did it for the CD. She did it great live. The CD Version is just as great, but sadly it's only 2 MINUTES! That is a huge disappointment. She also repeated a lot of the words wayyyy too many times. It gets annoying after some time. The only reason this song gets 5 stars is because Christina sang it.. otherwise I don't think I'd like it as much. 5/5 stars.
If You Really Love Me - Ryan Star - Ryan did a great job. This song can get a bit dull after a few times. I wish she would have done "Last Dance," for the CD. 3/5 stars.
My Cherie Amour - A.J. Gill - Great song! This song is actually what made me like AJ. Ofcorse Stevie Wonder did the original but AJ made it sound good. 4/5 stars.
I'll Be - E.J. Day - It is a good song, but his lisp sometimes annoys me. He's not bad, but never one of my favorites. 3/5 stars.
Easy - Jim Verraros - It's a good song actually. It had to grow on me, though. His voice isn't the best, but it's a fun song and it is perfect for him. 4/5 stars.
California Dreamin' - The Finalists - WOW, great song! I love how they edited it from the TV Show. They added a long part without singing in the middle of it. If you liked it on the show, this is EVEN BETTER. 5/5 stars.
A Moment Like This and Before Your Love - You all have probably heard these by now.. great songs for Kellys first two singles 5/5 stars.
Free Music Review: Great New Takes on Old Classics

"American Idol Greatest Moments" showcases the talents of 10 Finalists of Fox's American Idol's first season. Each of the showcased 10 finalists performs their signature song (as determined both by the judges as well as the fans) from the competition) winner Kelly Clarkson and runner-up Justin Guarini are featured on two tracks) and there is one group number. It should be noted that these songs were re-recorded in the studio and are not live versions as heard from the show.Below are the 15 featured songs with my comments on the side:
THE TRACKS
1. "(You Make Me Feel Like A) Natural Woman" - Kelly Clarkson: Kelly's powerful voice and awesome rendition of this classic prove without a doubt that she owned the competition..
2. "Respect" - by Kelly Clarkson: And she does it again..
3. "For Once In My Life" - by Justin Guarini: Not really my cup of tea, but an alright track.
4. "Gere Here" - by Justin Guarini: Justin's acclaimed rendition of the Oleta Adam's classic. Awesome track.
5. "Piece of My Heart" - by Nikki McKibbin: Awesome rock vibe by A.I.s bad girl.
6. "A House Is Not A Home" - by Tamyra Gray: Awesome, sultry rendition of the Bacharach classic. Tamyra shows and proves why many felt she was eliminated too early from the contest.
7. "Lately" - by RJ Helton: Awesome rendition of the Stevie Wonder and Jodeci classic.
8. "Ain't No Sunshine" - by Christina Christian: Again, not my cup of tea but a nice groove to this tune.
9. "If You Really Love Me" - by Ryan Starr: Not really my type of song, but this has a neat rock beat to it.
10. "My Cherie Amour" - by AJ Gill: He didn't last too long, but AJ does a nice job with this Stevie Wonder classic.
11. "I'll Be" - by Ejay Day: He didn't last long either, but he does a nice job here with this song. Real mellow tune. A nice song overall.
12. "Easy" - by Jim Verraros: Another early elimination, but Jim does a solid job with this Lionel Richie classic.
13. "California Dreamin'" - The Top Ten Finalists: As seen on the show, the Finalists cut an awesome remake of the classic Mama's and Papa's hit.
14. "A Moment Like This" - by Kelly Clarkson: Kelly's debut release and #1 hit. Not quite as emotional as her performance from the show, but a solid track.
15. "Before Your Love" - by Kelly Clarkson: Kelly's other single release, an equally powerful performance.
THE VERDICT:
Overall you get a SOLID mixed bag of tracks. Most of the tracks are winners with a few so-so's. In sum you're getting a great collection of American classics.
Following my policy for purchasing CDs, there's at least 10 great tracks on here so that makes this CD a definite keeper.
If you were a fan of the show you'll definitely want to get this CD. Even if you aren't an A.I. fan you'll definitely dig these new takes on some old classics.

This was a great! Cd with the 10 finalist of American Idol.1. You Make Me Feel Like A) Natural Woman-Kelly uses her gritty and sultry voice to make this aretha classic her own. This is the voice that made her win. I still wonder why there is no high note. Oh well she does awesome. 10/10
2. Respect-Kelly comes in with this song that made her awesome on American Idol. She does great in her rendition of it. She does some spectacular singing here. 10/10
3. For Once In My Life-Justin gives a good song. He had a good voice i hate the harmonica solo. But over all a good song. 8/10
4. Get Here-Im not a big fan of Justin or his voice. But there is no denying that there is talent. This song was a little slow for his smooth voice. Not My Favorite. 7/10
5. Piece Of My Heart-Ehh Nikki has a way to gritty rocky voice unsoothing. Not a Fan. At All. She isnt close to the worst though. 6/10
6. A House Is Not A Home-Tamyra is so awesome. She made this song spectacular with her soothing, smooth voice. I love her rocky grunt singing in the end where she picks it up ending with a acapella held note. Really Great. The track of this Cd in my opinion. 10/10
7. Lately-He isnt good like Simon said LOSER. Studio magic can only help him so much. Worst track by FAR. 2/10
8. Ain't No Sunshine-Christina give a good performance i thought the song would pick up. No she does the annoying repete of "I Know" Still good. 8/10
9. If You Really Love Me-A good song. Ryan does a good job. She did all that she could in my opinion. She is nothing special but not bad. 7/10
10. My Cherie Amour-I thought it wasa a girl at first. No its A.J. the whole song is basicly lalalala bad. 3/10
11. I'll Be-By EJay jeez to many RJ,AJ,EJ to many j's none are good. Ya not good. 4/10
12. Easy-Jim Verraros is better than all the J's should have stayed longer pretty good. 8/10
13. California Dreamin-Each singer gets about a line. Ou of the ensemble. To Much Justin. Not enough of Kelly she got about 2 words in. while everyone else got a full line.
14. A Moment Like This-A awesome song. Kellys single. Better than all the songs on here but i dont consider it with the others since it was recorded for kelly's single and CD. 100/10
15. Before Your Love-Good but compared to Kellys first single come on! Still a good song for Kellys single and cd. 9/10

Heres the order and the amount of stars I give each track.1.) Kelly Clarkson, Natural Women 5 stars, shes amazing on this track! She has a truly powerful voice.
2.) Kelly Clarson, Respect, 5 stars, once again kelly is simply amazing.
3.) Justin Guarini, For Once in My life, 4 stars, I don't really like his voice, but its decent
4.) Justin Guarini, Get Here, 2 stars, I find myself skipping this one a lot. I don't like his voice it doesn't have any streghth in it.
5.) Nikki McKibbin, Piece of my heart, 3 stars, its o.k. her voice is definantly rock, but american idol? no way.
6.) Tamyra Gray, A house is not a home, 5 stars, the best on the album, her voice is amazing, I think she should have won the competition or in some wierd scenerio tied kelly. At the end when she goes I'm not meant to liiiive alone, is the best part!!!
7.) R.J. Helton, Latley, 4 stars, Hes really good at the end, but the beginning is boring.
8.) Christina Christian, Ain't no sunshine, 4 stars, I really like her and think she should have gotten at least 3rd in the competition. Her voice doesn't quite match up to Kellys and Tamyras though.
9.) Ryan Star, If you really love me, 3 stars, its kind of fun to dance to , but her voice isn't great.
10.)A.G. Gil, My Cier Amour, 1 star, he sounds horrible, hes worse then those stupid boy bands, he has absolutley no talent what so ever.
11.) E.J. Day, I'll be, 4 stars, hes really good especilally when he hits those high notes.
12.) Jim Verraros, Easy, 2 stars, His voice is just not good enough to have gotten this far in the competition.
13.) Group, California Dreaming,4 stars I wish they would have sang the love songs or Joy the world personally, but its pretty good.
