I love the CD & I think the season 2 finalists were much better than season 1 (Kelly was the only one who really had it in season 1). Some things suprised me on this CD and some were simply awesome as expected.Here's some highlights according to me...
As expected...Clay is awesome & should've won the competition! It doesn't matter anyhow cuz he's so universally talented & loved among all ages! He'll succeed no doubt!
My favorite song by Ruben on AI was Superstar...I was singing it practially everyday since I first heard him sing it, but this version is much slower. I like the show version better.
Julia DeMato sounds GREAT on this CD! I always liked her best of the gals, but she would've made it further along if she sang all of her other performances like this!
Josh, perfection as expected!
Trenyce, beautiful as expected!
Rickey was never one of my favorites, but I really love his version of the song on this CD!
Couldn't wait for Kimberly Caldwell to be voted off the show, but this is the only time I thought she sounded REALLY GREAT! Possibly my favorite on the CD (aside from Clay since I'm biased & he's the best ever...he's my all time favorite!), but definitely top 2.
Corey & Carmen...I never knew how they made it that far in the competition, and the CD songs didn't make me feel any different.

I have to admit that I was rather skeptical about buying this . . . though I am a huge fan of American Idol, I know that I was disappointed with last year's "Greatest Moments" cd . . . I've only listened to it a handful of times and even when I do, I find myself skipping certain performances. However, I took the plunge and bought this one the day after it came out and I am not disappointed at all!!! First, all of these songs were recorded in the studio and I have to say that the studio really did alot of these kids good. Even the contestants I didn't particularly like live on tv sound great on the cd. In all honesty, the only performance that sounds "worse" is Kimberly Locke's rendition of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." It's missing that same spine-tingling quality that it has when she performs it live. Still a great, jazzy rendition nonetheless. Other notable performances include Rickey Smith's "Back at One" (for a minute I thought I was actually listening to Brian McKnight!) and, of course, Ruben's "Superstar." Close your eyes and you'll swear you're listening to Luther Vandross . . . Ruben is, indeed, a superstar and, win or lose, I will be the first in line to buy his solo album....

As a professional singer and Voice Teacher, I am so thrilled to see how American Idol has given the art of singing such a jump start in these last few years.
These American Idol CDs and programs are filled with so much varying talents. From Hard rock to Country, America is becoming interested in identifying true talent. As an Opera Singer myself I can still enjoy the gifts of other genres and am sad to hear when others look down upon the show. Also, as a voice teacher of many styles I can't stress enough the need to my own students for them to develop themselves as a "Complete Unique Package". Finding their own true niche and style including: voice type, genre, best repertoire, to the the right audition outfit. American Idol teaches the same theories. Be true to yourself and your voice to get your best shot at this business of singing. I am an advocat for AI and all shows that encourage the high developement of arts in America. We come from a society that watched sports religiously on telievision (which is great) but there are so many talents to support including singing out there amongst us. American Idol gives artists and viewers a fantastic opportunity.
Free Music Review: GREAT CD- JOSH IS THE BEST!!

I read everyone's review of this CD and I just had to write something in response to it. All, ok well not all, but some of you guys are saying that Josh... He doesn't, he is my favorite one on there and he's awesome! This CD proves that Josh is awesome! In his performance of "Three Times a Lady" he is wonderful, and when he starts out the beginning of "God Bless the USA" he is wonderful as well. He sings with such pride and dignity on "God Bless the USA". Ok, and another thing, don't criticize Josh for being a United States Marine. That is not the only reason he's on American Idol, he's talented. Ok, now for my review on the actual CD. This is a wonderful CD and every singer on it is very talented. This is a must have for any American Idol fan. I listen to this CD nonstop, thats how much I love it. Every song is wonderful especially song #s, 1, 5, 7, 10, and 13. Those are the best songs, but note every song is great. And if you don't buy this CD ur missing out on a lot! Oh yeah..one more thing..VOTE FOR JOSH GRACIN! a question to Reuben Studdard fans and even non-fans. Which is If Reuben won, why is Clay Aiken’s Cd being promoted more?? I recently went into a walgreens and saw Clay’CD on the shelf in front of the regisister. In circuit city I had to get on my knees to find Reubens CD it was on the bottom shelf with “older” CD;s on 5 shelves above it ,including clay aikens. Clay has been on atleast 3-4 awards shows , numerous talk shows and morning shows and what about Reuben? I think Fox allowed him to win so it souldnt be said they are biased, however if they are on the same label why is one being promoted more? Why is clay being treated as the winner, when he was not. Are they just setting Reuben up to fail, because he was never really the winner.??? Lastly I would like to say that I am NOT saying these things just to be saying them I don’t know talent wise who’s cd may be better but I believe they should ATLEAST be given equal footing to start of with. BY THE WAY I BOUGHT AND FELL IN LOVE WITH REUBENS
