Free Music Review: A Thoughtful Contrast.

Do I smell another Jeff Haynes?
For some reason, Amazon's review of the American Idol Season 5 Encores CD reminds me of IGN's most disputed review in history. I realize many people want their opinions heard, but it's not professional and is unnecessary for someone to write a non-generalized review that stands for a community (such as Amazon.) When writing a review for a big-name internet source, it's important not to let biased feelings get in the midst and keep things professional.
Now that this has been said, let's take a look at what we can find on this CD. American Idol Season 5 Encores CD contains one song for every contestant that was in the top 12. Meaning, it's either the contestant's best song they've performed, or they might have done better in the other songs on the show. As we've learned from watching American Idol, song choice can really get you. It can either be a smart choice, or it won't do justice to the voice that you have. We all know that this CD doesn't determine who should have/who shouldn't have won American Idol. This CD is merely a collection of goodies for you to enjoy, so don't be so quick to pull out judgement!
The greatest thing about this CD is the variety of different voices you get to hear. I have owned many CDs such as NOW that contain a variety of artists, but it's great to have a CD that has 12 solo artists that are working their way up to becoming stars. The songs on this CD are refreshing, they are songs that we have heard before by other artists. I'm positive that the opinions of the voices in this CD will vary, but one thing is for sure: All of the artists on this CD have great potential and a decent voice, or else they wouldn't even be on the CD! Give credit where credit is due.
The CD is very worthwhile, especially if you've been a fan of this season. There are quite a few notable tracks on this CD, such as "Wanted Dead or Alive" by Chris Daughtry. He sounds like he should already be on the radio, and I'm sure we will hear him on the radio in the future. It was a smart choice to put "Moody's Mood for Love" as Elliot Yamin's song on this CD, I prefer the CD version of this song to every song that he has previously sang on American Idol. Taylor Hick's "Takin' It to the Streets" was excellent as well. There is a lot of magic happening when he is on stage, and his voice has proved excellent. While this wasn't the best version of the song I have heard him sing, it's still an excellent playthrough, and is currently #2 in the top downloads. I found it rather unprofessional and a bit rude/biased that the author of Amazon's review bashed his Idol Glory over this song alone- The point of this CD is not to determine who should/shouldn't have won American Idol. There are many factors within the show that contribute to that, and this CD is not the TV show. It is also unfair to pull quick judgement over one song alone. To readers: Don't be fooled by Amazon's malicious review!
Another song that I particularly liked on this CD was Paris Bennett's "Midnight Train To Georgia". I enjoyed the CD version of this song very much. I also thought Katharine's voice sounded professional on this CD although I did not particularly like the song (on my own personal preference). It sounded rather repetitive in my opinion. I also enjoyed Bucky's "Superstition." It was definitely a guilty pleasure of mine! "Walkin' After Midnight" was my favorite Kellie Pickler performance on the show, but it sounded a bit different on the CD. The song sounded a bit slower, it was longer, and there wasn't as much emotion put into it. That didn't stop it from being enjoyable, however. I believe it could have been better, but it was still a great Kellie Pickler song.
This CD is a must-have for fans of this season and anyone who is looking for some great tunes!
