Free Music Notes for American Idol Season 5 Encores

Free Music Review: Best Idol Compilation YET!
Hit: 5 Stars

I have been watching the fifth season of American Idol, and although I would've preferred a different final two, the Top 12 contestants as a whole are fantastic. Everybody pulled through on this melting pot of music.

1. Melissa McGhee - What About Love - I wasn't a huge fan of Melissa on the show, but she proves strong in the studio with this song. It's one of my favorite songs on the album. 8.5/10
2. Bucky Covington - Superstition - Bucky has a unique voice, but he hasn't quite figured out how to channel it into something melodic. It seems pretty karaoke, still enjoyable. 6.5/10
3. Mandisa - I'm Every Woman - Mandisa proves her enormous vocal range on this cd, but I wasn't inspired by her song choice. She was kind of drowned out by the musical arrangement. 7.5/10
4. Chris Daughtry - Wanted Dead or Alive - Chris should've won the competition. The single most vocally impressive track on the album. His vocal runs made him stand out drastically from the original. 10/10
5. Ace Young - Father Figure - Undoubtably Ace Young's best performance on American Idol. It actually is an excellent recording, and he sounds very professional. 9/10
6. Taylor Hicks - Takin' It To The Streets - Taylor's unique, soul type voice is ideal for such numbers. This was his signature, being a fantastic and zany performance, equipped with some awesome vocals. 8.5/10
7. Lisa Tucker - Signed, Sealed, Delivered - Lisa ceased to impress me on the show simply because she didn't show much personality. While not vocally impressive, this was a great number for her. 8/10
8. Kellie Pickler - Walkin' After Midnight - Beginning with the twangy, heartstrung harmony of original. Kellie soars through the song, with her undoubtably old fashion country-type voice. This is the reason we fell in love with Kellie. 9.5/10
9. Elliott Yamin - Moody's Mood For Love - Elliott Yamin has a very distinctive, soul type voice. This song is just ear food. I loved every word, and this is exaclty the kind of record he needs to release. 9.5/10
10. Katharine McPhee - Think - Katharine never impressed me on the show with her conceited and heartless attitude. Nonetheless, her vocals on this song are SOMEWHAT pleasing. 8.5/10
11. Paris Bennett - Midnight Train to Georgia - Not her signature on American Idol, but one heck of a recording. This girl has an incredible future. Her voice is so crisp and beautiful, she can hit any note out there. Flawless. 10/10.
12. Kevin Covais - When I Fall In Love - Not bad Kevin. He is pretty drowned out by the band, but he does a pretty good job singing this sappy ballad. 8.5/10

This is definately the best AI compilation yet and you'd have to be crazy not to buy it. Overall: 9/10.

Free Music Review: AWESOME CD
Hit: 5 Stars

I fell in love with American Idol this year and i gotta say this CD is awesome...I'm recalling the order of the CD from mind- that shows how much i've listened to it so far. This is my evaluation of the CD...

1. Melissa McGhee: What About Love - I think she did really well on this song, she shouldn't have left as early as she did
2. Bucky Covington: Superstition - Not one of my favorites, it was okay. He should've stuck with a country song to be in his element
3. Mandisa Hundley: I'm Every Woman - This was definetly her song for this season, she sang it wonderfully. Can't wait to hear her sing at the concert
4. Chris Daughtry: Wanted Dead or Alive- Chris is awesome. This song is one of the best on the CD.
5. Ace Young: Father Figure- Not one of my favorites either but the song is okay. It's a little too long though.
6. Taylor Hicks: Takin' It To the Streets- Soulful voice, Taylor rocks this song. Makes me wanna get up and dance everytime I hear it. Although everytime i do hear it I think of Elliott and Katharine dancing-(Elliott's elimination night when Taylor sang this song)
7. Lisa Tucker: Signed, Sealed, Delivered- She wasn't one of my favorites too much either but I love this song and I'm starting to like her more
8. Kellie Pickler: Walkin' After Midnight- I love Kellie and I love this song. I wish she would've sang the end of the song as she did on the show
9. Elliott Yamin: Moody's Mood for Love- Oh don't get me started on Elliott. Boy can he sing! This is without a doubt the best male vocalist ever on the show and this song proves it. I love Elliott, love his voice, can't wait to hear more of him
10. Katharine McPhee: Think- This is the shortest song on the CD. I think she should've done the Black Horse and the Cherry Tree song. This song is okay
11. Paris Bennett: Midnight Train to Georgia- This one is my favorite out of the girl's songs. She's the best 17 year old to come out of American Idol. Beautiful song
12. Kevin Covais: When I Fall in Love- Haha, what else is there to be said about Kevin "Chicken Little" Covais. This song is great, he's cool I like him

Other Comments: If anyone remembers Gedeon McKinney, who thinks he should've made it do the Top 12? Well I do, he was awesome. If he would've made it to the CD he should have sang "Change Is Gonna Come" He sang that song wonderfully. I get chills when I hear it. Literally.

Free Music Review: Another Hit CD For American Idol 5 Stars

Congratulations to the final twelve American Idol performers on an excellent season and a great CD.

"What about Love" - Melissa McGhee - excellent rock vocals. Melissa's voice well suited to the rock music genre.

"Superstition" - Bucky Covington - surprises with an outstanding
version of the Stevie Wonder hit. The country flavor added to the song by Bucky and the excellent music and great job by the backup singers make this song special.

"I'm Every Woman" - Mandisa - Mandisa is a brilliant vocalist. Great recording.

"Wanted Dead Or Alive" - Chris Daughtry - A great power rock singer. A top notch recording.

"Father Figure" - Ace Young - This version of the George Michael song I think is better than the original version. Ace really nails this song and once again the music and backup singing is superb.

"Takin' It To The Street" - Taylor Hicks - Taylor does a fantastic job with this song and his soulful style once again gets a hold of the listening audience.

"Signed, Sealed, Delivered" - Lisa Tucker - Lisa wows you with this version of the classic hit. Lisa's own spin on this great song and her beautiful voice make this recording truly special.

"Walkin' After Midnight" - Kellie Pickler - Kellie truly impresses with her unique version of the classic Patsy Cline song.

"Moody's Mood For Love" - Elliot Yamin - Elliot is a very special singer and once again proves so with this great recording.

"Think" - Katharine Mcphee - What I think is great about this version of "Think" is that it does not make you recall the great Aretha Franklin version but it has it's own unique sound that reminds me of a kind of cross between Janis Joplin and Josh Stone. This song definitely rocks!!!

"Midnight Train To Georgia" - Paris Bennett - Paris is a wonderful vocalist and she truly does justice to the Gladys Knight Hit. Great job!!!!!

"When I Fall In Love" - Kevin Covais - Kevin wins you over with his smooth version of the classic love song.

American Idol has once again showcased a great group of vocalists who all have the ability to go on to great careers in the entertainment field.

Highly Recommend this CD!!!

I also recommend:
"Blue Skies" - Diana DeGarmo
"American Idol Season 4 - The Showstoppers"

Free Music Review: Must Have for ALL Idol Fans
Hit: 5 Stars

This CD is probably one of the best idol albums of the top group out of all five albums.

Melissa McGhee - 10/10 - The first contestant booted off and this track shows how America was so wrong. She sounds amazing and its the perfect song for her. When and if she makes an album, this kind of stuff should definitly be on it!

Bucky Covington - 7/10 - Buckys voice is a lot clearer on here and easier to understand and it is a fun song. It's not mind blowing but a good job from Bucky.

Mandisa - 8/10 - I did expect a little more out of Mandisa but you can tell she had fun doing this and it sounds really good. Also shows why Mandisa did NOT deserve 9th place.

Chris Daughtry - 10/10 - The best on the CD. Has a WONDERFUL recording voice and I know that he is going to be a huge star and will probably outsell all these idols when and if they make an album.

Ace Young - 9/10 - Never a HUGE Ace fan but liked him. His track is very very very good. It's a nice song and he does a great rendition of it.

Taylor Hicks - 9/10 - Your NEW American Idol doesn't dissapoint. He brings it with a funky version of this song and it sounds great. It will be a blast to see live.

Lisa Tucker - 7/10 - Completely the wrong song but she has a nice recording voice. Would have sounded amazing on a ballad though.

Kellie Pickler - 9/10 - Makes the song very edgy and seductive. Great choice of song and Kellie reminds us why we all (well not alL) but most of us Picked Pickler!

Elliott Yamin - 8/10 - Voice sounds great, song is really boring though. That's always been my problem with Elliott. All in all, good job.

Katharine McPhee - 9/10 - Another great job. Katharine puts a lot of fun into this Aretha hit and makes it her own. The shortest on the CD, yet one of the best.

Paris Bennett - 9/10 - Sounds same recorded as live and to me, that's a star. She sounds great and puts a lot of herself into the song.

Kevin Covais - 5/10 - Boring song and a boring singer who didn't do it THAT great. Granted, better than on the show but this shows why he shouldn't have made the top 12. Voice is no where up to par with the others on the CD.

All in all, GREAT CD!

Free Music Review: Worth buying
Hit: 5 Stars

While I enjoyed Season 4 more, I like this CD way better. It seems like the idols put more of themselves and their souls into this cd.
1. What About Love, Melissa McGhee- Wow! She outdid herself. This is my favorite track on the entire CD! I was never a Melissa fan while she was on the show but the vocals in this one were just astounding!
2. Superstition, Bucky Covington- Boring. That's about it.
3. I'm Every Woman, Mandisa- She did a good job, but it's not the song I would have chosen for her. The song just isn't... catchy enough.
4. Wanted Dead or Alive, Chris Daughtry- It was good. Better than on the show, but not my favorite.
5. Father Figure, Ace Young- It was alright, though I do dislike Ace strongly.
6. Takin' it to the Streets, Taylor Hicks- Good. Not great, but good. And this is an unbiased opinion. I love Taylor, but I do admit that this wasn't the best song to put on the CD.
7. Signed, Sealed, Delivered, Lisa Tucker- She did a good job on this one. I can tell she put her all in it.
8. Walkin' after Midnight, Kellie Pickler- Kellie rose to the occasion on this one. I've always been in the anti-pickler group, but I do have to admit she did a good job with this.
9. Moody's Mood for Love, Elliott Yamin- I was disappointed with this one. Elliott was my favorite contestant and while the vocals are very good, the song just isn't catchy.
10. Think, Katharine McPhee- Yeah, it was good. But... Not really memorable.
11. Midnight Train in Georgia, Paris Bennett- This song was better performed, but still pretty good.
12. When I fall in Love, KevCo- Yep. This confirms it. Kevin's adorable, but... not really the most talented vocally.

Best song: Melissa's
Worst song: Bucky's (It wasn't really bad, just boring)

This CD is really worth buying. I wasn't sure that I would since last year's was good, but some of the songs were mediocre. This year I think pretty much all of the idols did a good job and put themselves in it.
