this how alice should be!

Free Music Review: Atmospheric and creepy, but.....
Hit: 4 Stars

Excessive length lessens the impact a bit. Having played and loved the game I couldn't wait to get my hands on a copy of the excellent soundtrack album. My first impression on listening to it was that most of the songs are padded out to fill a time requirement.

It also suffers from the problem that all soundtrack albums have; sometimes the audio really needs visual clues to better understand what the music is supposed to be about.

Apart from those points, it's worth listening to for aficiandos of game soundtracks, or even just seekers of the unusual. Sounds of childhood innocence (musical box, girlish humming etc.) mix with sounds conjuring up a pseudo Victorian atmosphere (strings, steam machinery etc) and are given a sinister feel. Of course it's all done with electronics, but that's the clever part of it!

Definitely a late night listening experience, preferably with headphones.

Free Music Review: Childishly Twisted
Hit: 4 Stars

I love the way Chris incorporated familar childhood sounds. He took the "tink-tink-tink" of wind-up toys or other sounds that may have brought entertainment and pleasure during childhood, then warped it enough to make it eerie. It is very fitting for a misunderstood and slightly pyschotic Alice. It makes you think of a disturbed child which is exactly what American McGee's Alice is, disturbed child-like minded young-adult... going on a card killing rampage, but with the full intent of "saving" the Wonderland she was knew and loved.

My favorite is the Village of the Doomed and Fortress of Doors is good as well, while The Funhouse actually gives me the creeps. Vrenna did an excelent job setting the tone for this game. I hope he scares the next one as well!
