Free Music Notes for Twilight of the Thunder God (W/Dvd) (Dig) AlbumFree Music Review: What's the Hype Hit: 2 Stars
I have to say I've never been a fan of Amon Amarth, not to say I haven't tried. I remember buying Versus the World a few years back after hearing Death in Fire (which i thought was an awesome song). The rest of the album however failed to catch my interest thus I've listened to it once, maybe twice. The same goes for Twilight of the Thunder God. It opens with the title song, awesome riff great solo (by Children of Bodom's Roope) The rest just goes downhill from there. All the songs sound the same its mindless chugging with uninspired riffs. This just feels like a lame attempt to to capitalize on the viking theme and sell it to scenesters as a gimmick.
While I find little enjoyment in this i do recommend this to previous fans of the band. Those trying to become acquainted with viking metal Start with Bathory and Enslaved as these are the pinnacles of the genre.
