Amon Amarth is one of the best representations of Asatru world view and religion. They play a religious type of music motivated by pagan religion Asatru. Like Johann Sebastian Bach, who was moved by Christianity, Amon Amarth create timeless music under the influence of Asatru. An organization of Asatru people, called Asatru Folk Assembly, says that Asatru is an expression of the native, pre-Christian spirituality of Europe. More specifically, it is the way by which the Germanic peoples have traditionally related to the Divine and to the world around them. Asatru people do not need salvation. All they need is the freedom to face their destiny with courage and honor. Asatru believes are connected to their ancestors. The ancestors are a part of Asatru people living now. Among important principles, Asatru honor the Holy Powers under the names given them by their Germanic/Norse ancestors. Amon Amarth are everything a metal band should be. They're a big, hairy, intense, powerful band of vikings. They dominate the stage in live shows, and they manage to maintain enough melody to keep the songs distinct and interesting withough sacrificing a scrap of brutality or intensity.
"Twilight of the Thunder God" is yet another great entry in Amon Amarth's already strong catalogue. Great riffs, interesting lyrics, powerful delivery, and all the same great Norse-themed mayhem fans have come to expect. I just bought the album, and I've already listened through to it three times. Come to think of it, I may go put it on again right now.
In an era where many of the formerly great Swedish melo-death bands have sold out for popular success (I love In Flames, but seriously...) Amon Amarth continue to churn out some of the highest caliber material the genre has ever seen. A+

Sweden's Melodic, Viking, Death Metal band AMON AMARTH has become one of Metal's most important artists since their 1994 debut release of the limited edition "Burning Creation" EP. Their last official album release "Thunder of the Twilight Gods" plays a big part in their fight for metal domination.
The album is rock solid. Catchy guitar riffs and epic melodies with lightning fast beats. Practically every song has a sing along anthem feel to it. The band referred to the track "Where Is Your God?", as probably the most brutal AMON AMARTH track of all time and the album follows in that path.
Key trax on this album are "Twilight of the Thunder Gods", "Guardians Of Asgaard" which features a duet with L.G. Petrov, Entombed singer, & Varyags Of Miklagaard

Amon Amarth once again doesn't disappoint with "Twilight of the Thunder God". Every song chugs and moves along like a Viking horde stampeding across a village leaving nothing standing behind them....from start to finish it is another epic piece to Amon Amarth's discography and will not fail to please fans in the least. "Twilight of the Thunder God" is the 7th full length and is still Amon Amarth at a healthy and motivated state....still marching strong swinging their big metal axe. "THOR...ODEN'S SON...PROTECTOR OF MANKIND...RIDE TO MEET YOUR FATE...YOUR DESTINY AWAITS!!!" Will not disappoint and will keep any hardcore fan with a smile upon their faces...a must have....try to get the bobbleheads too they're high quality and a great collector's item.Free Music Review: Pure Excellence

There is so many positive things I could say about this album that I know not where to begin. I have been listening to Amon Amarth for years now and I have not been disappointed in any release. As far as musicianship is concerned I dare say this is a step ahead of their previous releases. For example the sheer brutality 'The Crusher' possessed is shown in this album, but of course in a different sense.
Amon Amarth have always blended masterfully their lyrics and instrumentals. Their lyrics are mighty indeed, and their instrumentals bring them further into an even more epic light. So go ahead and satisfy your inner viking with this masterpiece.
