I asked my sister to buy me this when she left Saudi Arabia in 2000 after a diplomatic assignment and I took an immediate liking over it right away. Despite being sung in Arabic (not a very musical language in Western-trained ears), the pulsating rhythms instantly creep into one's groove and before you realize, you're hooked!
THis is one good thing even with music written in foreign languages - you might not understand a single word but the melody just lingers on (as one song says). Middle Eastern and Latin music usually possess catchy tunes that they register right away. I am equally surprised that Amr wrote the songs himself and gifted with a voice that cools down the desert heat or alternately, heats up a languid mood, you know you're in for a treat.
I can't recall all the titles of the song except the album title but the tunes have stucked in my mind and once they're played, either the hips start to gyrate, the toes taps or your soul simply yearns for something magical. Recall Cole Porter's "You're The Top" and this one will surely be IT....Of course, that's an exaggeration but that song is all about exaggeration!

Tamally Maak is such a hot song, it has been ripped off by both Pakistani and Indian singers. A rip off version was even featured in the Indian movie "Murder". We all know that Amr Diab is the original and his music never bores the listener. Even if you don't know Arabic, you will enjoy his songs.Free Music Review: Fantastic Voice
