Free Music Review: It's An Amy Grant Christmas!
Hit: 5 Stars

When I first heard Amy Grant was coming out with a new Christmas album, her fourth (!), I was excited because I love her previous offerings and her music is my soundtrack to the holiday season. Then I found out that it was actually a kind of 'Greatest Hits' compilation of her three X-Mas albums, with a few new recordings added in. Disappointment aside, I knew I would get it as soon as it came out (in September!). So, here's the big question: Is it worth buying? Let's discuss, shall we?
First of all, the song selection is favored very heavily towards her second holiday album "Home For Christmas," with a whopping eight tracks (the first eight tracks of that album, actually) making an appearance, compared to four from the first one and only two from the last. It may sound completely unbalanced, but in my opinion HFC was the best of the three so I don't mind too much. Amy has stated that these are her favorites from each album, so whether or not you agree with her choices is beside the point.
As for the new songs, they fit quite nicely alongside the familar ones. "Jingle Bells" starts off the set with a furious pace, a remake of Barbra Streisand's version of the song. It's funny to hear Amy sing so fast! "I Need A Silent Night" talks about how commercial Christmas has become and how we sometimes forget the true meaning of it all. "Baby It's Christmas" is a sweet song about taking a breather and enjoying the simple pleasures of the holiday, and "Count Your Blessings" is a lovely reminder to be thankful for what you have. All in all, excellent additions to the Amy Christmas canon!
So is it a must buy? In my totally biased opinion, yes. Where some perfomers release holiday music to make a quick buck, Amy is one of the few artists who actually puts feeling and meaning into these songs. It may not be all new music, but it is good music, plain and simple, and wonderful.

Free Music Review: The only christmas cd you need. ever.
Hit: 5 Stars

Honestly, out of all the covers Christmas songs get, I've yet to find anyone as consistant and perfect for the job as miss Amy Grant. My family has kept her christmas CDs in heavy rotation all season long for years it seems, and they always sound fresh, they always bring the warmth and jolly of the time, and the reminder of the nativity.

I would recommend buying all her Christmas albums (i'm not sure how many there are) but if you'd rather hit the highlights then this one definately does the job. There's only a few tracks I would have liked to see make the cut, but for the most part these are the best. I love "count your blessings instead of sheep" i wish more people sang that song, it's brilliant.

Overall: if you already have Amy's Christmas CDs, you might still want this one for the few new tracks, but otherwise it's a bit frivilous.

However, if you're new to Amy's christmas stuff you need this NOW! I promise you there isn't a better christmas CD out there. Period. Amy was born to sing christmas music, I couldn't tell you a single thing about her normal stuff.

Free Music Review: Amy Grant's newest album
Hit: 5 Stars

I am a long-time Amy fan and I have all of her Christmas CDs. This newest one is no disappointment---I think it is fantastic! The 4 new songs on this CD are great. 2 of them are original; one was written by her hubby Vince Gill (Baby its Christmas). The other, I Need A Silent Night, is awesome. It is about all of the hooplah around Christmas (the shopping and crazy traffic) and how we all get bogged down with those things, when all we need is a silent night. That song gives me chills every time I listen to it. Hearing her daughter read the scripture is so sweet, and makes the song even more memorable. Amy also included 2 songs by other artists but put her mark on them. Jingle Bells (Barbara Streisand's version) is very fun to listen to and it really gets you in the Christmas spirit. Also, Count your Blessings by Bing Crosby is nicely done; very thoughtful and beautiful to listen to. I'm a big Amy Grant fan and I loved this new CD. I would highly recommed it. I am going to see her Christmas concert in December and I look forward to hearing her new songs.

Free Music Review: Born to sing Christmas songs
Hit: 5 Stars

Amy Grant was born to write and sing Christmas music. Even if you already have some of these songs on her other Christmas albums, this collection is still worth buying for the new material. "Baby, it's Christmas," written with Vince Gill, is oh, so romantic. It will make you feel like cuddling in front of the fireplace with your loved one. Amy reminds us to remember the true meaning of Christmas on "I Need a Silent Night," which includes a Bible reading by her youngest daughter, Corrina. "Count Your Blessings" is also lovely.
I appreciate Amy Grant's choice NOT to include any "fluffy" songs in this collection. There's no "Rudolph" or "Mr. Santa" or "Frosty the Snowman" kids' stuff.
Amy, I love your non-holiday music throughout the year, but I do look forward to this season when I can listen to your Christmas music!

Free Music Review: Second Review and Still Loving It!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

I always get a little silly around this time of year because I know that the holidays are coming. I was browsing the site and came across this holiday album (which I purchased last fall [08])and had to write another review. This, like "Bebe and Cece Winans First Christmas" has become a classic staple in my holiday music collection. I cannot commute to work, class, or back to my parents' home for Christmas if I don't have this CD in my car. My favorites are:

-"Sleigh Ride"
-"Baby It's Christmas"
-"Mary's Song/Breath of Heaven"
-"Christmas to Remember"
-"Most Wonderful Time of the Year"
