Jando plays these favorite concertos very well. The orchestra accompaniment is quite good as well. I was pleased that the brass of the orchestra did not "blare" too much. I have found the brass on other recordings of Grieg's concerto to be slightly offensive. That is not the case on this recording. Jando plays with a great of energy throughout the Grieg concerto. He is especially effective on the third movement. He plays a long piano run toward the beginning of the third movement differently from any other recording that I have heard. The Schumann concerto is also quite good. The sound quality (recorded 1988) is great. As is usual with Naxos CDs, the low price is another plus. I highly recommend this CD.
