Free Music Review: Guess it helps to be grey haired and Italian Hit: 5 StarsWell, After having read all the reviews and listened to the tunes available I still got the CD and I am glad. I guess you have to be grey-haired (I'm 60 and I grew up listening to Como sing these songs) and Italian (I'm only 1/2 Italian, I make a mean Sunday Gravy with Meatballs). Music, like beauty, is in the eyes (or ears in this case) of the beholder!
all the best

Free Music Review: Not bad. Hit: 4 StarsThis is Andrea Bocelli's November 2008 release, and it marks his return to the Neapolitan repertoire after 'Sentimento' (2002). Although 'Incanto' (which means 'Enchantment') doesn't have the same kind of material featured on his pop albums like 'Romanza,' 'Sogno,' and 'The Best of Andrea Bocelli: Vivere,' it's still a well-executed collection of Neapolitan songs.
It begins with 'Un Amore Cosi Grande' (A Love So Great), which captures the essence of Italian life and love and sets the mood for listeners as the rest of the album progresses. Other songs like 'Mamma' and 'Santa Lucia' follow the same formula with great crescendoes, soaring vocalis, and lush arrangements. Sometimes, Bocelli even pays tribute to Spanish and English balladry with covers of 'Granada' and 'Because,' respectively.
And the rest of the album is rounded out by delightful tempos and gorgeous arrangements that don't drown out Bocelli's voice.
All in all, while Bocelli is more well recognized as a pop singer than an opera singer, he's proven again that he can lend his phenomenal talent to stylish classical pieces in much the same vein as he does to pop ballads, and amaze listeners in the same manner that true opera singers like the Three Tenors, Enrico Caruso, Maria Callas, and the like did. Some of the songs might seem a bit obvious, but overall this isn't bad.
