I love holiday music---and my staple of holiday CD's has always been the classics my parents indroduced me to; JOHNNY MATHIS CHRISTMAS I love holiday music---and my staple of holiday CD's has always been the classics my parents indroduced me to; JOHNNY MATHIS CHRISTMAS fav of all time--(the one with him holding skis)---Nat King Cole Christmas--Sinatra, ect...
This CD, is truly a Christmas Masterpiece--from the song selection, to the masterful production, to the heavenly vocals of Andrea--and his guests from Reba to Mary J. Blige who, you can tell, put their full heart and soul into their vocals to rise up to the level of masterful commitment Andrea and David had have had to create this beautiful project--In my housefold, this has now become the new JOHNNY MATHiS CD, listened to since I was a babe--
I am in the music business, I hear how artists slap holiday CD's together to get one out there in the market it. This one is anything but--This is truly a beautiful, tremendously thought out, put it on around the house while your decorating, having coffee, party, masterpiece!
Thanks for taking such great care of the classic songs David Foster & Andrea! Masterfully done!
Happy Holidays!
Free Music Review: Boccelli's album is the essence of the spirit of Christmas Hit: 5 Stars
I sat down to listen to Bocelli's MY CHRISTMAS this morning before I began some other work and could not tear myself away from it. There is such a purity to Bocelli's voice that it is entirely fitting that he do a Christmas album, and such an album it is! I'd buy one for every member of my family if budget and time allowed. Loved the duets as well except (unlike others here) the one with Mary J. Blige. She is a wonderful singer, but not in duet--this was a mismatch of voices and singing styles. It seemed like she tried to drown out Bocelli while he was tempering his magnificent voice for her sake. I've never understood why singers have to change a beautiful song to an entirely different song anyway with all the riffs, etc., and that's the effect Mary J. Blige seemed to be reaching for, though Boccelli stayed with the traditional music of "What Child is This." There were a few places in the song where I had to strain to hear his voice. I would most definitely recommend this CD--listening to it is like being in a cathedral at Christmas--background music and voices were marvelous too. Loved it!! Uplifting and beautiful.
Free Music Review: This Christmas CD will become a classic Hit: 5 Stars
I bought the CD/DVD package of Bocelli's My Christmas yesterday. I have to admit that I was surprised at how charming and warm the performances really are. I have no doubt that this album will become a Christmas classic in the years ahead. I have only one other CD by Bocelli so in general I'm a bit lukewarm toward his music. His performance of Time to Say Good Bye is one of my all time favorites. However after sampling the tracks in the store I had to make the purchase.
I know other reviewers have mentioned their favorite tracks so I may as well. I think the most charming is Santa Claus is Coming to Town which is performed with a small group of children. Watching the children's reaction to Bocelli is simply wonderful. Bocelli's singing of White Christmas is also well done though I still prefer Bing Crosby's version (a real stick in the mud I know). The most moving song on this CD, for me, is Silent Night. I also really liked God Bless Us Everyone. Really, all of the songs are wonderful.
I highly recommend the CD/DVD product.
Peace to all.
Free Music Review: Brought my Christmas feeling back Hit: 5 Stars
I saw the DVD of My Christmas in PBS and it was beautiful. I bought the CD and DVD and both are excellent but I wish there was a blue ray. The HDTV broadcast of PBS makes the DVD look crappy. I am not a die hard music fan so this is the first time I've heard Andrea and David. After listening to pop music in the 80s throughout high school / college I've lost touch to music but Christmas music has always been with me since I am a Christian and that I grew up in Christian family going to churches and school choir. Andrea and David definitely brought the Christmas feeling back. I listen to the CD and watch the DVD daily since I bought it early December. It is never boring and they have the traditional songs which I love. Andrea's voice makes me feel alive. Also, including the different singers was a great decision. Reba and Andrea or Nat and Andrea. There are other ladies and as beautiful. The muppets are also there and funny. The slow Jingle Bell version is terrific. The Santa Claus with children is beautiful. The voice of Andrea mixed with other folks is just too beautiful to miss.
Free Music Review: "Blessings sent us from above, Guide us on our way..." Hit: 5 Stars
This will be the 19th five-star review of Bocelli's My Christmas. I don't want to just jump on the band wagon or rubber-stamp this Bocelli album as a great one, but if I call it as I hear it, then I call this CD a great one, a Christmas classic for the ages.
Andrea treats us to the traditional classics with all his power. He does it in English, German, French and that most beautiful of languages, Italian. The arrangements are beautiful. The accompanying orchestras are magnificent. The background choirs are first-rate. Another reviewer opined that "The Lords Prayer" with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir would become an instant classic. Couldn't agree more; it'll bring tears to your eyes. Bocelli celebrates everything Christmas - Christ, the angels, the children, the giving and receiving, the sleigh rides, the families, Santa, but he does it so much better than most Christmas albums out there.
My Christmas is second to none and deserves all of its praise. It only adds to the spirit of the season, and will do so for a lifetime.
