Free Music Notes for Down to the MoonFree Music Review: Fantastical Hit: 5 Stars
DOWN TO THE MOON was probably the first piece of music I ever heard that truly inspired me. I was about eight at the time, but I still remember the impact that the opening track "Down to the Moon," had on me. Oddly reminiscent of the Star Wars theme, it is breezy, interesting, and beautiful. "Moon Dance," the best track on the CD (perhaps tied with "The Secret, the Candle, and Love") follows and doesn't disappoint. At times odd, others sentimental, this is a compelling collection of New Age tracks that convey the mystery and beauty of the imagination. This music was a jumping off place for me; I can track my longstanding love affair with electronica and ambient back to DOWN TO THE MOON.
If you really enjoyed this CD, I strongly recommend you also give A Childhood Remembered a listen. It is similarly constructed and has the same 'feel' to it. Beautiful music to be sure.
Free Music Review: Dream stimulating music.... Hit: 5 Stars
This album came across my hands in 1987. I was only 14 years old. I was used to listening to rock/pop or classical. When I heard this album, "Down to the Moon" I was exposed to a whole new world. This album takes you to a place of imagination and peace. With soft subtle sounds of nature and even some semi-spaceage sounding music. What Andreas has done with his harp and other instruments in this album takes you to another realm of imagination. Very soothing, however it's almost as if all the songs are telling a story. A seamless story. You will not be disappointed with this CD. When you close your eyes turn this Cd on it will be sure to take you to a place that only your dreams can imagine.
I have since replaced my cassette and now have this Cd. I regularly listen to it. In 19 years I've never gotten tired of listening to it. This album will truly be a treasure in your ambient/new age music collection.
Free Music Review: My favorite CD of all time... Hit: 5 Stars
This is, simply put, my favorite CD of all my music, and I have a lot. I have a bachelors degree in music and though my education was in classical music I find this music transcends all but the most sublime music in the classical world. I, like the reviewer Leja, just ran across this music by chance when it was given to me by a co-worker because he thought I'd enjoy it. Well, that was in about 1986 and for the last 23 years I have listened to this CD at least once per week if not more. It is evocative of certain places to which I like to travel and I wouldn't leave home without it on a vacation. I have lent out so many copies that I am on Amazon now to buy another so I can have a personal copy again.

Free Music Review: A CD for all time Hit: 5 Stars
I first bought "Down to the Moon" on cassette and practically wore it out listening to it. It was one of the first cassettes i replaced with a CD and one i will always insist on having in my collection. The music is ethereal and relaxing, yet i always feel energized when listening to it. If you are going to listen to Andreas Vollenweider, start with this CD.
