Free Music Notes for Whistle Down The Wind (1998 Original London Cast)

Free Music Review: You had to SEE the show!!!!!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

I understand what all the reviewers say about repetition and dialogue, BUT the music itself IS very good and the problem with theatre soundtracks is that the music is NOT everything. If you saw the final London production in that limited two and half years it ran, you would definitely say that this show IS JUST AS GOOD as Lloyd Webber's greatest shows. I'm not saying that just because they had people climbing through a giant multi-million dollar highway system platform going up and down through the whole show making the audiemce ohh and ahh, but also the fact that the show flowed very very well especially because of the writing and set design.

Free Music Review: Oh God, this music is beautiful; CD was badly put together
Hit: 5 Stars

This is beatiful music mastered by a moron.
Sadly pretty much every track is ruined by talk (in over-the-top accents) at the start, middle or end of the track.
My recommendation is to buy the CD, import everything into iTunes (or your favorite computer music app), in a LOSSLESS format (eg AIFF for iTunes). Listen to everything, apply a bunch of edits to strip out all the spoken crud; then export the playlist to a CD-R, and use that CD-R as your "real" CD for your car or whatever.

Apart from this lousy technical issue, what can one say? Incredible music sung by powerful voices. Makes me cry whenever I hear it.

Free Music Review: Just saw the reworked version in London, 2006
Hit: 5 Stars

I love Jim Steinman's lyrics for Meatloaf so had to see what this was all about. I bought the album 2 years ago but didn't actually see the show until yesterday in London at the Palace Theatre. Annie and Charlie Christmas are gone, along with pieces of other songs, and a new upbeat song sung to the kids by The Man called 'The Tribe' was added in Annie's place. They also dropped the line '...and a brother that don't fart' from 'I Never Get What I Pray For.' I hope a new album will come out soon as the edits make the show better in my opinion. Anyway, my favorite song is 'When Children Rule The World' but the whole show ROCKS!!

Free Music Review: The music is WONDERFUL!
Hit: 5 Stars

I buy CD's for the music, NOT (or usually not!) the talking! If I did, I'd have to agree that the Southern accents were horrible! We do NOT sound like that (although interestingly enough, I thought the children were believable). But the songs were really fabulous!
I learned about this music in a very convoluted way. I saw the PBS birthday party for Andrew Lloyd Webber and was absolutely mesmerized by the song, "If Only!" sung by the adorable and talented BOY ZONE. Naturally I had to buy that CD (for my teenager, of course). This eventually led me to the soundtrack of the musical. I just love it!

Free Music Review: I'm ALWAYS in the mood for this cd!
Hit: 5 Stars

I went to see Whistle last august and loved it! I eagerly awaited the soundtrack to come out and when it finally came out it brought back the excellent music i had heard that night. It has a lot of powerful songs which make this musical great. Some of my personal favourites include 'Tire tracks + broken hearts','A kiss is a terrible thing to waste', 'unsettled scores' and 'when children rule the world.'I love all of them though! This is for any ALW fan! It has everything - comedy, romance, drama and all the other things that make an excellent musical!
