Free Music Notes for Whistle Down The Wind (1998 Original London Cast)Free Music Review: A great variety of music! Hit: 5 Stars
This is a wonderful double cd with some stirring music. Though the southern accents are a bit flawed and some of the singers could be better, it shines for the most part. Lottie Mayor and Marcus Lovett are truly amazing and have great chemistry. The music soars, especially "Tire Tracks and Broken Hearts," "A Kiss is a Terrible Thing to Waste," "Whistle Down the Wind," and "Cold." Truly a must have for any ALW fan because it includes some of his best rock music. Buy it, and you'll listen to it over and over!

This is another example of the genius of Andrew Lloyd Webber. The music is haunting and the story is involving. There are some differences between this version and the version now touring the U.S. The songs have been changed a bit, and although the lead (Marcus Lovett) has a good voice, he can't hold a candle to the young man currently appearing as "The Man" in the touring company, Eric Kunze. Still, it is a wonderful addition to any Broadway collection. If you get a chance to see this play in person, it is well worth the price of the ticket.

Whistle Down the Wind is a wonderful musical. It has a mixture of songs, including, gospel, rock and typical musical type songs. My favorite songs are "No Matter What" and "Whistle Down the Wind" It is true this is a London recording but I don't notice their accents as much as I have on other albums from London. The really neat thing is there is a fair amount of spoken word along with the music. This helps you follow the story better. It is a great musical and I recomend owning it. It is well worth it!
Free Music Review: One of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Most Touching Works Hit: 5 Stars
As a musical theatre and Lloyd Webber fan, I was very anxious to hear the cast album of his latest musical. 'Whistle Down the Wind' has a very lovely, parable-like story, and beautiful music. The performances of everyone on this album are very good, the singing is fantastic. The accents are mostly overdone, but it's not like Americans do a good job on British accents. The best thing to recommend this musical is the music. It is lush, powerful, and very different from Lloyd Webber's other shows. Don't miss out on this album.
