Free Music Notes for I-EmpireFree Music Review: More of the same Hit: 5 Stars
Angels and Airwaves' follow-up album is really just more Angels and Airwaves. If you didn't like "We Don't Need To Whisper", "I-Empire" certainly isn't going to change your mind about this band. If you haven't heard them yet, check out "We Don't Need To Whisper" first. That said, Tom DeLonge has created an original alt-rock sound and some of his most poetic lyrics to date. Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker may be the spiritual successors to blink-182 with their band +44. But Tom has created something unique that deserves a listen. Standout tracks include "Call to Arms", "Everything's Magic", and "Rite of Spring", among others.
Free Music Review: A relief Hit: 5 Stars
I already reviewed this but Amazon killed the review for an unknown reason.
In any case, this album is as good as the last, which is to say it's spectacular.
The only problem with it is that Rite of Spring is utter garbage; amateurish lyrics and simple, garage, my-first-punk-song from the musical standpoint. It's always skipped and the album should not have it.
The rest ranges from pretty good to really good. Very much a relief that A&A didn't screw things up after their first one, and it was not a fluke!
Free Music Review: Uplifting Hit: 5 Stars
There is something special about this band! I sense a very positive, energetic approach to this album. I felt the same way about the first album "We Don't Need to Whisper" but even more so on this second release. I enjoyed all the songs and will listen to it several more times this week. Who can I compare them to
probably no-one! They are quite unique. Very unlike most of the new stuff coming out. If you liked their first album, you will certainley like this album. (maybe even better). Great Job Angels and Airwaves!
Free Music Review: Way way better than the first album Hit: 5 Stars
Don't get me wrong, the first album isn't bad, but I just found it kinda boring-- like I never listen to number 2 or 8. On I-EMPIRE I enjoy every song. I really love Rite of Spring (#11) and how that small piano is again used like in Start the Machine from the other album. The songs are more upbeat and really fun to listen to! GO BUY IT!!! However, the cd I bought had the two bonus acoustic tracks of Everything's Magic and Do It For Me Now. Haha yeah. Don't expect too much from those.
Free Music Review: They finally won me over. Hit: 5 Stars
Remembering their first album, I wasn't that pleased with it, it didn't move me so I didn't bother buying it. When the "Everything's Magic" single came out, I still wasn't interested. It wasn't until my sister had received the album for Christmas and I had the chance to hear all the other songs, that's what did it for me. This album is phenomenal. Something that lets your soul surface for a mere 40 minutes is worth every penny I think. Trust me, you'll fall in love like I did.
