Free Music Review: U2 For Blink Fans
Hit: 5 Stars

I was anticipating this album all year. My friends downloaded it a month early, but I decided to wait and keep the anticipation. That was such a great decision. I bought this album the day it came out, and I have listened to it so many times. The album is incredible, and other bands have a lot to shoot for to beat it. Songs:

1. Valkyrie Missile (5/5) - This may be my favorite song on the album. I find the album is so much more enjoyable when starting with this song. It just gets the atmosphere going. Great lyrics. great job by Tom DeLonge. Definitely gets you in the mood.

2. Distraction (4/5) - Great musical choice leading into this song. The first vocals are reminiscent of Boxcar Racer in the style that they're done. Great lyrics again. Good message. Great song.

3. Do It For Me Now (5/5) - This song has some of my favorite lyrics on the album. The music is definitely epic, following suit of the album. Incredible song.

4. The Adventure (5/5) - The song everyone was familiar with. Still hasn't lost any of it's charm. Amazing lyrics. Some of the best music on the album. Extremely hopeful. Great performance by DeLonge.

5. A Little's Enough (5/5) - A great choice to put after 'The Adventure'. A quieter song for the most part. Great, thought provoking lyrics. The lyrics here are not something you would typically see from DeLonge. Great message.

6. The War (4/5) - Very cool opening music. After that, the song is still great, but just doesn't keep on par with the others in my opinion. I still love the song though. Good lyrics.

7. The Gift (5/5) - This is another of the competitors for my favorite song on the album. The lyrics are incredible. The vocal performance is epic. This song inspired me to get back into songwriting actually.

8. It Hurts (5/5) - This song contains my favorite line on the album. Great song. I heard this song a couple days before the album came out and was even more excited. Great lyrics, and I think DeLonge gets his point across extremely well. Cool video too I might add.

9. Good Day (4/5) - Again, great song with great lyrics and music, but not quite on par with the others. I was expecting the album to maybe start winding down here and not be quite as impressive, like some bands do at the end of their albums.

10. Start The Machine (5/5) - Right when I thought the album would wind down, this song comes. This song is the last of the competitors for my favorite song on the album. Incredible ending to the album. I think, maybe the most epic song, with the best vocal performance by DeLonge. Great music as well. Great choice of an ending song.

All in all, amazing album. Doesn't disappoint at all. Flows extremely well. Pick this up as soon as you can.

Free Music Review: Not Up To The Hype..But What is?
Hit: 5 Stars

It's no secret: Tom Delonge hyped this band before a song was even recorded. Most people considered Delonge cocky and arrogant about his powerful self-proclamation--but most people were also excited or at the very least curious to hear what his project would reveal.

I'd have to put myself in the curious, excited group--when a two-minute trailer was posted on their website I was immediately throttled with anticipation for their album. Dark and genuinely moving, the trailer featured clips from the opening track on the record, "Valkyrie Missle," and was as stirring as it was beautiful. Still, it wasn't revolutionary--or significantly "better" than his previous projects--it was just different and pleasant sounding.

When the record finally found its way to my hands, I pushed all my expectations--and even Delonge's expectations--completely aside. I listened through once, twice, three times...and suddenly my 8-hours of work that day were gone. "We Don't Need To Whisper" might not be brilliant, life changing, or radical--but is certainly agreeable in the harmonious sense. Delonge's voice sounds wonderfully full, without the usual snotty rasp--and while some of the more boorish music listeners might call it production tweaking, I simply think of Delonge as an improved singer.

So, while Delonge was successful in transforming his voice to fit the style of his music and while I think there are certain signs of maturity that are obvious on Angels & Airwaves, lyrically, the CD couldn't be much worse. On "It Hurts," Delonge repeatedly utters "It Hurts..." over and over so much it makes your head hurt--and while "Good Day" is certainly my favorite track on this album, musically, lyrics like "I think I like today, I think it's good, it's just something I can't get my head around" nearly make me cringe and turn it off.

For some reason, though, this record keeps playing on repeat in my player. There's something about the atmospheric, obvious U2-influence in the guitars and the way the songs flow that is simply pleasing to the ear--it's harmonious and, in a sense, truly captivating. I wouldn't hesitate to say it doesn't live up to the expectations Delonge set for it--but then again, what would?

All of Delonge's words and hype aside, I thoroughly enjoy this record. There's something strikingly catchy and lovely about it--I'd almost call it the reminiscent, familiar vocal stylings of Delonge. And while, musically, this record sounds like a cross between U2 and Blink 182, it's certainly almost as enjoyable as both bands in its own way. If you ask me, though, Delonge might've been better off surprising us instead of creating something no musician could ever live up to.

Free Music Review: A band to be reckoned with
Hit: 5 Stars

Several months before "We Don't Need To Whisper" came out, I was listening to the radio one night and the band's first single "The Adventure" came on. At first I was a little confused because I thought Blink 182 had broken up, so I figured that either Tom DeLonge had put back together Boxcar Racer, or he had once again formed a new band. Sure enough, it was the birth of Angels and Airwaves.

After listening to "The Adventure", I knew right away I needed to get as much info. on what was going on. I immediately jumped on the computer and did some research. Within two minutes, I had "The Adventure" downloaded and had it on repeat. I was blown away at Tom's new style, and I was excited for what was in store for us.

After a couple more weeks, Amazon had posted "We Don't Need To Whisper", Angels and Airwaves' first album. I could barely contain myself, hoping that the music was similar to "The Adventure", and it wasn't some one-hit-wonder crap that was gonna hit the shelves. Thankfully, this band is anything but a one-hit-wonder. They're something exceptional, and definately something to be reckoned with.

So, the day came when the album was in stores, and I immediately picked up mine. Taking Tom's advice literally to heart, and actually sitting down in a quite room and putting on the music, my heart and eardrums were pulsating with excitement as each new song came thru my speakers. This truly was not Blink, nor was it even Boxcar Racer. This, is Angels and Airwaves.

But, unfortunately due to Tom's fame and very well known career, that's enough for some to pass judgement too quickly and decide he can't do anything right in the music industry. Either that or people think this is a copycat to other bands with Tom's own twist on it. Frankly for me, I feel AVA is not only original, but something to really appreciate. It's some very well written music in my mind, and I've listened to this album time and time again to get the true meaning and feelings that this band is trying to get across.

I absolutely love this album. This is a wonderful piece of work, and I'm very impressed with not only Tom's new ideas, but his newly found maturity. I'm very excited to see what AVA has for us in the future!

Free Music Review: Perfect Album
Hit: 5 Stars

I first heard of Angels and Airwaves about a month ago. I knew that I had to get this album once I found out that Tom from Blink-182 was the lead singer. This album had a lot of hype to it and it certainly lived up to that hype.

1. Valkyrie Missile- 9.5/10- Very good opening song. It has a very slow start to the song, but it quickly picks up and leads in to the rest of the album.

2. Distraction- 8.5/10- Sounds a lot like many Blink-182 songs. It's not my favorite song on the album, but still a very solid song.

3. Do It For Me Now- 10/10- My favorite song on the album. It is very addicting and has great lyrics. This is where the album starts to pick up. It has a good beat and reminds me of old school punk.

4. The Adventure- 10/10- My second favorite song on the album. This is the first single for Angels and Airwaves, and is a song that starts off slow like Valkyrie Missile but picks up quicker. It has meanful lyrics and is reminiscent of many Blink songs.

5. Little's Enough- 9/10- A good solid song with a very catchy chorus. It is one of the more upbeat songs on the album.

6. War- 8/10- Overall this is just a boring song. It is repetitive and bland. It's my least favorite song on the album, but still not that bad.

7. The Gift- 8.5/10- The band tried way too hard with this song. It gets very repetitive, but overall is a pretty good song.

8. It Hurts- 9.5/10- This is one of the slower songs on the album. Very good lyrics and and a good chorus make this a very good song. At first you may not like it, but it grows on you.

9. Good Day- 9/10- Another song where Angels and Airwaves tried a little too hard. It sounds a lot like some Blink-182 songs and is not very flashy, but overall is a very good song.

10. Start the Machine- 10/10- Great closing song. It is the most upbeat song on the album and has a great ending in the last minute. It is very addicting and is a great way to close a great album.

Total Score: 92/100- 9.2/10 (92%)

Angels and Airwaves has a very bright future and they started off with a great first album. IMO this is the best album of 2006 so far and everyone should pick a copy up.

Free Music Review: A fresh new start !
Hit: 5 Stars

Tom is such a genius! The way the songs feel like when it feels like something is going through your ears is awsome!
Well first off it took Tom 6 months to make this. The reason why is that mark and travis didn't support his political views. I think when Tom said this was going to be the best album in decades I think he meant it, and he did! This album rocked because it made me want to sell all my albums like american idiot, three cheers for sweet revenge, still not getting any.. and many more. Ok now lets get to the music.

Valkyrie Missile 10/10 I thought the intro was great and the way they made the amp echo.

Distraction 10/10 I think the song was great and the idea of the song was amazing.

Do It For Me Now 10/10 The Idea of somethinf being wipped was awsome, and the guitar, drums and bass were all in a blend, with the amazing lyrics.

The Adventure 10/10 The amp has an echo which is cool. The lyrics are great. Its also there first single, and its also on the radio a lot.

A Little's Enough 10/10 Theres not much to say but the blend of every thing is spectacular!

The War 10/10 The muting is awsome at the begining. And the way they play the d chord in this one is awsome! As long with the lyrics are great.

The Gift 10/10 I love the lyrics in this one and the begining feels like your in the video game.

It Hurts 10/10 Guitar and Lyrics are awsome the way it blends. the way the guitar sound exactly like the lyrics.

Good Day 10/10 The drums are really good and the begining of the song is great.

Start The Machine 10/10 the lyrics are great, it talks about leaving blink and starting something new.

Overall I went as deep as I could with all the songs, I think this the best album ever made in the history of rock/alternative.
