Free Music Notes for The Art of Love and WarFree Music Review: To Angie, with love... Hit: 5 StarsFirst of all, I'm happy to spend my money on music especially good MUSIC like this CD by Angie Stone! No short changing here folks! The CD is top quality from beginning to end. Angie knows how to talk "real talk" through her music, and I'm loving it for real! Folks,if you love Angie like I do, go out and get this, buy it for someone, or whatever just go buy it! You will not be disappointed at all!
Free Music Review: Angie, you've OUTDONE it! Hit: 5 StarsFirst of all, let me just say that this is by far the SWEEEETEST R&B album ever!
I heard the first release "Baby" with Betty Wright and was blown away with the collaboration. I figured that the rest of the album should be good too. Yes, that and some!! The "Art of Love and War" far exceeded my expectations. I am quite impressed because every song just "brings" it! You can groove, dance or just chill to the beat. The music is very neo-soul jazz. This album would make a great soundtrack for a movie like "Love Jones". My favorite tracks are #2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 13, and 14.
One thing I like about Angie's music is that she "KEEPS IT REAL"! She addresses issues like love, empowerment, and life in general. I especially love how she gives props to those who have paved the way for people of color with the song "My People" featuring James Ingram. I honestly can't stop raving about this album. I've never written a review before but this album deserves it. I would highly recommend adding this album to your music library. This would make a great holiday gift as well. You will not be disappointed! KUDOS TO YOU ANGIE STONE!
Free Music Review: not as good as the last one Hit: 2 StarsI have been a fan of Angie Stone for some time, but this album isn't as good as her previous attempts.
Free Music Review: Great effort from Angie! Hit: 4 StarsExcellent effort from Angie Stone. Her music is solid and has a familiar feel to it-like cool water on a hot day... very refreshing! In a musical landscape that is anorexic, it is good to feast off of the sounds of someone who has vocal ability, musical intonation, and an interpretive grasp for lyrical content that surpasses many in her generation. My hope is that she hangs out a while... My prayer is that she lasts and sustains in a finnicky industry that values the almighty dollar over quality instrumentation, vocalization, and plain old depth. Keep it movin' Angie! You done good this time! 4 stars...only because I would have liked to see her take on some riskier formats- I'd like to see her experiment with TRUE jazz (not R&B blended), and big band would be interesting coming from her. Her longevity will lie in her ability to walk that tightrope of variability. No one wants to buy the same music over and over again... She will need to find a way to inch out and experiment with new formats GRADUALLY, without alienating her base and doing something that does not compliment the range and strength of her voice. Rock on Angie Stone!
