Free Music Review: Will be checking out more Ani CDs after this
Hit: 5 Stars

This is only my second Ani album, after 'Dilate'. I like 'Dilate', but not so much to motivate me to buy others of hers. I totally love 'Knuckle Down', however, and will be checking out more of her stuff ('Canon' is particularly appealing).

'Knuckle Down' is less aggressive than 'Dilate', which is not necessarily a good thing, I suppose. But her voice sounds so much better than on 'Dilate', on which she seemed to be snarling the lyrics; and the guitar picking and melodies are clearer.

I particularly like "Callous", "Paradigm" and "Recoil", but every song is great.

Free Music Review: Exceptional
Hit: 5 Stars

This is Ani's most intuitive album yet. The small nuances between what the listener is thinking, feeling, and hearing are what make it so phenomenal. It's gotten to the point where Ani hardly has to say/sing it anymore, the listeners just get her. Her feelings are embodied by every guitar's strum, the tone of her voice, and soft or hard vowels in her lyrics.

This album is truly exceptional. "Sunday Morning" and "Studying Stones" are particular outstanding masterpieces.

Free Music Review: Buy it!
Hit: 5 Stars

There are a few CD's in my collection that I can pop in the player in the car and leave it there for weeks with no problem. Knuckle Down is in this collection. It's got the perfect balance of powerful lyrics, beautiful sound, and artistic force to make it seem new everytime I hear it. Like the way you can look at a great painting by a master over and over and see new details everytime.

Something about Ani- she makes me listen. But especially in Knuckle Down.

Free Music Review: Waiting for This ONE
Hit: 5 Stars

This cd is perfect. I own all of Ani cd but this one is by far my favorite. It is just simply put beautiful and the songs are sonic and lush. The strings add an element that is surreal and incredible, plus the song are just like little stories. Most of her cd take a little getting use to but with this one just let it play and you will be hypnotized! Studying Stones, Sunday Morning, Manhole and Callous are little master pieces and they alone will take your breath away.

Free Music Review: Ani has returned!
Hit: 5 Stars

I was unimpressed with Educated Guess and Evolve. I'm happy to say Ani has returned full throttle with an album worthy of her Dilate/Revelling/Reckoning days. For the first time since R/R, I *feel* Ani again. Sumptous instruments frame typically gorgeous lyrics, and her singing is amazing, clear and without the annoying extra background vocals that plagued *Educated Guess*. Stand-out track is probably Parameters, because of its eerie instrumentation.
