Free Music Notes for Revelling/Reckoning

Free Music Review: A Juxtaposition of Flavors
Hit: 5 Stars

This double album contains a pair of surprisingly different collections, each with its own thing to say. Revelling has Ani playing and having fun, and while it has statements to make it's also a chance to celebrate the music itself. Reckoning's tones are more muted, and it's an emphasis of message over style. Together, they demonstrate that Ani Difranco can approach music from any direction she cares to; they make up a musical fan-ts'ai, neither more important than the other. As L. Sjoberg might say, serve Revelling with red meat and Reckoning with fish and give them both an A.

Free Music Review: A Precious Gem
Hit: 5 Stars

What Ani has put together in this gorgeous collection is something more exciting and engaging than I had ever expected. While she could have easily given us something too immediately engaging, she instead offers something far more precious: a frustrating, complex labyrinth of music full of layers and breadth. As with so much of Ani's best stuff, this CD demands your attention and patience, and as I grow more in love with this CD with every listen, I am more and more thankful and more and more respectful of this artist of almost unimaginable talent. Thank you for this one Ani.

Free Music Review: A converter
Hit: 5 Stars

I was a partial Ani Difranco fan before this album. But after buying this album, I am a true and complete fan. I've always loved her less "angry" music. This album is Ani, in the raw, at her best! I am absorbed with listening to the brassy, almost jass-like, style of disc 1 and her melodies of disc 2. The combination of styles is fresh and brilliant for her. Revelling/Reckoning is a "must have" for any music collection. Though her musical style has evolved into something wonderful, as always her lyrics are striking and singable.

Free Music Review: Best Album Of Her Career
Hit: 5 Stars

I started listening to Ani DiFranco with her last album, To The Teeth. It instantly grew on me. I loved it. The songs, the music, the lyrics, the whole album was good. So, when Revelling/Reckoning came out, I went out and bought it immediately. It is the best album of her career to me. I love every song, and every instrumental, but my favorite songs are "O.K," "Rock Paper Scissors," from Revelling, and "Grey," "School Night," from Reckoning. If you don't have this cd yet, go out and buy it, you won't regret it.

Free Music Review: Jazz & Folk, a true mixture made in heaven. thank you Ani.
Hit: 5 Stars

The Album Revelling/Reconing is a true masterpiece in the world of indie culture, and there for in music in general. This album is a double album and is set with two very different moods. the first disc is full of livly jazz pieces, and guitar interludes, also you can not pass up the wounderous voice and lyrics of Ani. The second album on the other hand is very laid back and has sad allmost a cryptic fell, but they are just beautiful. Revelling/Reconing is probably not for the new Ani fans but old time Ani goers defently love it.
