Free Music Notes for Revelling/ReckoningFree Music Review: Ani Shines Hit: 5 Stars
I've been an Ani fan for 10 years now and I can honestly say that this album moved me just as much as her first one did, albeit in a different way. This music is bold, feisty, sad, moving, political, and oh so inspiring. From tracks that sound like country to others that sound Hawaiian, Ani is still growing and shining as a musician--even after all these years. I'm so honored to be a fan of her music. It's been amazing growing up with her. Ani, you go girl. Everyone else, go get this album.
Free Music Review: Something Totally Different from Ms. DiFranco Hit: 5 Stars
And now for something completely different... She has once again presented us with something different and amazing. Her lyrics just keep getting more and more introspective and thought provoking. Her music is more jazzy at times and seconds later is funky. Her anger has subdued a little and she is now writing songs that have a great meaning. If you weren't a fan of her early stuff for that reason, get this album and you'll notice a remarkable difference in the music.
Free Music Review: Perfect Hit: 5 Stars
I have been an ani fan since Puddle Dive. I have gotten every album since then. Starting even with Puddle Dive there were some horns. She has been playing with different kinds of music her whole career, whle trying to balance political songwrtiting right along with songs about love. She has finally balanced everything. The two discs are simply amazing. I have never been this happy with an ani album, it is superb in every way. It is a very confident listen.
Free Music Review: Different, and just as good Hit: 5 Stars
This isn't Ani's typical work, but that should not and does not make it any less worthy of acclaim. One of the things that I have always liked best about Ani is the depth and range of her music, and this album broadened her work that much more. It's the perfect music for a quiet night at home with a bottle of wine and a thunderstorm, or in general for a more reflective moment. It is a wonderful, lush-sounding album. Now there's an Ani album for every mood!
Free Music Review: A beautifully thoughtful album Hit: 5 Stars
Ani has delivered another classic in this much anticipated double album CD. The music is sincere but not as melodic as her last album. She tends to use the music as backup to her powerful words. These Cd's are a great reflection of her overall ability as a song writer and a musical orchastrator. Parts of it even feel like her early CD's that depended on the guitar so heavily. She has made her fans happy with this new double album.
