Free Music Notes for Merriweather Post Pavilion

Free Music Review: Breathtaking
Hit: 5 Stars

It's just brilliant. It may only be February, but unless this turns out to be an unbelievably tremendous year in the music world, Merriweather Post Pavilion will undoubtedly be one of the finest albums of the year (possibly of the decade). I can't think of an "experimental" album that is as approachable and as discordantly beautiful. The blast of sound at the center of "In The Flowers" should be completely abrasive, but it's at once exhilarating and hauntingly beautiful. And then "My Girls." What a song. No band around today (few bands in history) have managed to make so much out of so little.

This is the peak of Animal Collective's career to date. If you've never heard 'em, if you're unsure about this kind of music, just let it happen. Just put it on, and let it play. It's that great.

Free Music Review: A Joyous Affirmation of Mature Happiness
Hit: 5 Stars

I must only append a few details to the volume that has been spoken already for this album--I hope that they may serve as neat little insights for listener to the album.

One of the things that makes this album so wonderful is the almost-unreal organ-synthy sounds that bracket its beginning and end (think the great part in In the Flowers, and a similar thing that comes in at the interlude of Brothersport), with a sound almost like heavenly chorus of icicles and grasshoppers (if you really listen to it, you'll know what I mean).

The other thing I truly love about this album: it feels, simply, like an affirmation of what's truly good in the world. It's beautiful.

Free Music Review: AMAZINGNESSSSSS.
Hit: 5 Stars

This is by far the best album of the year (well for me anyways). I find myself listening to it on repeat for hours and hours at a time. AC has a way of hypnotizing its listeners through their beats and melodies. I can't get enough of it. Their lyrics are also amazing and thoughtful and make you wonderrrr. I love all of the songs on the album way too much to pick a definite favorite but i would have to say that my top three are Taste, Summertime clothes, and Lion in a coma. Now i just wish that they would come within a 75 mile radius of my house so i could go and see them live! I don't know what my ear drums would do without this band.

Free Music Review: Breakthrough for experimental rock band
Hit: 5 Stars

First off: For all the people who commented on my posts. I've been absent on reviews because of ym soul-searching. Now I'm only reviewing albums I like.

MY REVIEW:

Animal Collective - "Merriweather Post Pavilion"

These guys know how to make good music.

That's simple all I can say about the album.

My favorite song is "Summertime Clothes." But I also like "My Girls," like many people.

Anyway, I'm giving this album five stars because it's a cool album that never leaves focus. It makes you lose touch with the real world, though. At least it did for me.

Free Music Review: Best AC Album Yet?
Hit: 5 Stars

I am a huge Animal Collective fan. I have seen them live in a small club, and was blown away by the experience (so much more than a concert). I have nearly everything that they have recorded (including Panda Bear's solo efforts). I like all of their work; all of it has something to recommend listening to.

I think this album may prove to be their best. It is such a great mix of sweet vocal pop music (hints of Beach Boys) and their tribal electronics. If you're a fan go get it. If you just want to see what the deal is, I think you could do worse than starting with this album.
