Free Music Notes for Merriweather Post PavilionFree Music Review: Friendly Animal Collective Hit: 5 Stars
I've been a fan of AC for a while and I'm excited to have a good starting point to hand to people who want to get into them but can't wrap their heads around some of their more abstract music. It's still got the wall of sound happening, but there are more refrains and such throughout to make it a little easier to walk into if you aren't already a fan of the moer left of center stuff. Bluish is easily my fav track on here, but there isn't a single track that I skip over when I listen to it. The whole album is just cohesive and absolutely delish.
Free Music Review: A Sweet Head Trip! Hit: 5 Stars
This album is so trippy! You can totally wig out on it. The kind of thing you can practically get high on without the drugs. I've heard some pretty interesting songs from these guys but this album is better than anything else I've heard from them. If yer into "psych rock" or whatever you wanna label it, this is some of the best I've heard in a while. Truthfully, I'm not much of a Beach Boys fan and you can definitely hear that band's influence in this music, but Animal Collective take those dreamy melodies to much cooler places (IMHO).
Free Music Review: The Album That'll Cement Them in Music History Hit: 5 Stars
So...I was never a big AC fan. Yeah, I enjoyed "Fireworks" and got a kick out of the goofiness of tracks like "Leaf House." However, this is their first fully cohesive album...and it's truly a thing of beauty.
For those of you who have trouble enjoying Animal Collective or have been frustrated by their previous efforts - I'd recommend giving Merriweather a shot. You've never heard anything like it.
Free Music Review: Greatest album of the 00s Hit: 5 Stars
Yes. It is better than Kid A, Funeral and Turn on the Bright Lights (Just Maybe). After you listen to it a few times it will grow on you. After it has grown on you you will understand why everyone says it is so good. I highly recommend that you get this album. The stand out tracks are everything (But really My Girls and Brother Sport).
Free Music Review: 5 stars Hit: 5 Stars
I don't really have much to say, just trying to do my part to counterweigh the yahoo's who gave this album one or three stars. You have to committ yourself to fully understand Animal Collective. Passive ears who want instant gratification won't immediately like them. Once it clicks, they will be stuck in your head FOREVER though...
