Free Music Notes for The Best Of Eric Burdon & The Animals, 1966-1968

Free Music Review: Not An Original
Hit: 3 Stars

Ordered this album since it has the same cover photo as the original Animals' "Best of" LP. In one way I am fortunate that it is not identical to the original as the CD contains "Baby Let Me Take You Home"- a good song that was not on the original. Unfortunately the CD failed in its primary mission. I wanted a digital (non-scratchy) version of "We Gotta Get Out of This Place", but alas the CD provides just another remake heard so often on the "Oldies" radio stations. Eric never "Watched" his daddy in bed in the original. The word "See" was used instead. Perhaps the original doesn't exist

I really like the Animals songs. The CD transaction was perfect with regard to shipping to my house and the product was packed nice and safe. The CD skips on certain songs and they are the ones I like the best. I will take this as a lesson learned from buying slightly 'used' items. I still haven't tried the CD's in a newer type CD player but they skip on computer and CD player. Actually all three CD's from this seller skip on some songs it could be my palyers are old but the computer does it too but on different songs. Recommend good ebayer though. Sorry for the neg comment just thought you would want to know.

Free Music Review: Blast from the Past -the Animals
Hit: 3 Stars

The sound of Eric Burdon and the Animals singing about San Fransisco nights creates a vivid memory picture for those that are old enough to experience it. This song and the other famous ones like We Gotta Get Out of this Place and House of the Rising Sun were part of the culture back then. Anyone could feel that the songs were "their" songs. Like Eric said the times were enjoyed by cops, hippies and even Hell's Angels.

Free Music Review: docked a star for sub-par sound
Hit: 3 Stars

This later incarnation of the Animals is stronger than people realize, and I'm glad to have it in my collection, except for the fact that the sound is just not up to snuff. I have the import "The Complete Animals" which has ALL their earlier stuff, and it sounds fantastic, making this pale in comparasion. There is an import called "Inside Looking Out" which 22 cuts from this era, but I can't find it.

Free Music Review: Quality could be better.
Hit: 3 Stars

I was expecting a re-master collection of songs. The recording of this CD sounds like how I first listened to this music, thru a 2 inch speaker on a portable transistor AM radio. There is some attempt to create stereo sound on a few of the songs. Too bad, the music is great! Eric Burdon was great with the Animals. Almost makes me miss the sixties and all that went with it!
