Free Music Notes for Anne Murray Duets: Friends & LegendsFree Music Review: It gets better with every spin Hit: 5 Stars
What to say. This album is so great I don't know where to start. (Caution: the first time I played it I thought most of the songs sounded alike and I didn't like the duet with Olivia "Cotton Jenny" or with Carole king "Time Don't Run out on Me". However, after many spins, the two songs I just mentionned are now two of my favs!!!) The best tracks are : "Another Pot O' Tea" with Emmylou Harris, [Anne & Emmylou are my two favourite singers in the world and this duet is pure heaven-it smacks quality!], "Daydream Believer" with Nelly Furtado, the rocking "You Won't See Me" with Shelby Lynne, the subdued "Danny's Song" with Martina McBride, the haunting "I Just Fall in Love Again" with Dusty Springfield, the all too current "A Little Good News" with the Indigo Girls, of course "You Needed Me" with Shania and the irresistable French duet with Isabelle Boulay. Jann Arden, Olivia Newton-John, kd lang, Dawn Langstroth, Céline Dion and Carole King all ring in a great performance. But of course, the real star is Anne. At 62, her pipes are in fine shape. The only duet that doesn't rise to the original version is the lovely "Song for The Mira". Celtic Woman sound like robots on a telephone. The rest is easily the best album in decades ! Get yours now!

I am an Anne Murray fan, so any album by Anne is an event. We also share the same Birthday 6/20. I have met Anne several times and she has always been warm and sincere. This duet album reflects Anne's personality--the duets are sincere, her voice blends well with all the friends and legends. It would have been nice if she sang newer songs; but many of her hits work well here. The biggest surprises are the updated " A little Good News" with the Indigo Girls and "Song of the Mira" with the Celtic Wonman. I also like "Cotton Jenny" with Olivia. You can tell they enjoyed the session together. I was a little disappointed with one of my favirite Annes songs "Time don't run out on me" It starts off well and Carole King and her really get into it then all of a sudden, the production, which should have soared just falls flat and ends abruptly. Also her duet with powerhouse vocalist Martine McBride was just too subdued. I expected more. However, despite these reservations, the album receives 5 stars, since there are no four and a half ratings.

At this stage in Anne Murray's career, Anne's voice is very impressive. The minute you hear her, you're reminded of the first time you ever heard these songs. A personal favorite is "Another Pot O' Tea." a duet with Emmylou Harris. Harris is amazing, her voice filled with soul, they sound beautiful together. Another favorite is "Nobody Love's Me Like You Do" Anne sings with her daughter, that one will get you (a little teary eyed). I alway loved the original duet with Dave Loggins-this version is just as nice. The last song, a French tune with Isabelle Boulay, it's remarkable how similar these two sound(the choir was a nice touch). I think Anne Murray fans will enjoy "A Love Song" with k.d. lang and "I just Fall in Love Again" with Dusty Sprinfield. "You Won't See Me"-an old Beattles song I think is better then her 70's version. It has a fresh, youthful sound. All in all, the songs selected were some of the best of the best Murray hits-Enjoy!
Free Music Review: This is an excellent disc of duets Hit: 5 Stars
I have been an Anne Murray fan all my life. I grew up listening to her music. I know most of the songs on here but not all of them. My favorite track is "You Needed Me". Anne and Shania Twain sing so well together. I also love her duet with KD Lang. They harmonize great so well on "A Little Love Song". Amother gem is the duet with the late great Dusty Springfield. "I Just Fall In Love Again" is a classic love song. "Snowbird" is a track that makes me feel happy. Sarah Brightman has such a pretty voice. Other tracks that stand out here are "Danny's Song" with Martina McBride and "Another Pot O' Tea" with Emmylou Harris. I never heard of the singer Isabelle Boulay, but she sings beautifully with Anne on the French song "Si Je Te Revois". The piano playing is lovely on this track. I have never heard the song "You Won't See Me", but it is very upbeat. I like the guitar playing here. I love the music of Anne Murray.
Free Music Review: The Ladies ROCK! Hit: 5 Stars
With Anne Murray, you pretty much know what to expect: crystal clear lyrics, soothing melodies and a strong vocal performance. This time around, she reminds us what we all loved about her back in the day, and she shares the wealth with many of the stellar female voices out there today. Hearing her sing with her daughter is very special. It's also nice that many who share the mike with her on this cd are fellow Canadiennes, and doubly nice that she was able to include Dusty Springfield posthumously.
The only thing that could have made this even better, is if they had included a few videos of the duets that were actually done together in the recording studio. Maybe next time?
