Free Music Notes for Annie (1977 Original Broadway Cast) AlbumFree Music Review: Excuse me, but I am NOT an idiot...! Hit: 4 StarsI feel quite sorry for the person who wrote the 'review' that was basically a diatribe against Charles Strouse. Who are you, his ex-wife or something? I, for one, don't appreciate being called an idiot. As a person with a higher-than-average IQ who enjoys a wide variety of entertainment, I find the music and story of this play to be sweet and charming. I admit that I have a sentimental attachment because it was the first stage play I ever saw 20-some years ago, but listening to it again does not diminish the qualities I loved about it when I was 14. I would urge folks to take this soundtrack in the spirit in which it was intended -- as a musical that brings an old-time comic strip to life. In my opinion, the result is quite enjoyable.
