The Ultimate Collection
This is the best cd Annie Lennox has recorded as a solo artist. I loved the other three solo albums, Diva, Medusa, & Bare are all fantastic cds! This new album is a variety of different types of songs. It starts off with the adult powerful ballad "Dark Road"...which leads into the upbeat "Love Is Blind" which is VERY catchy & upbeat & soulful!! The next track which is a favorite of mine "Smithereens" its a beautiful song and sounds like nothing she has ever done before!!! There are a lot of songs on this cd that sound a lot like Eurythmics such as "Womankind", "Colored Bedspread"...& even the soulful upbeat "Sing" which was recorded with 23 other famous divas!! If you like Annie or Eurythmics pick up this cd!! Its great!!!!

Another amazing release from Annie. She always seems to deliver such powerful and theatrical music. She does not fit the mold of any type of music - she just is what she is. Every song on `Songs Of Mass Destruction' is raw and unabashed. Annie's voice is in prime form. Every song captivates you and draws you in both with the lyrics and her sometimes haunting vocals. Anyone who has purchased or heard any of Annie's previous efforts knows they are going to get nothing but the best and there is no exception to that rule on this latest release. There is everything included on this set from pop/rock, more rock sounding to haunting but excellent ballads.
A must have for everyone. I would give it more than 5 stars if I could. Very pleased by `Songs Of Mass Destruction'!

Once again, Annie has managed to touch the mind and heart with the selection of songs on this new cd. Yes, the subject matter may be dark, but at least Annie is singing about things that matter in this world. Anyone who has listened to Annie's previous solo efforts as well as the Eurythmics catalog, knows that she is not simply "pop fluff". Her music is cerebral and thought provoking and always has been. Toss in the lush sound of her voice and suddenly the subject matter doesn't seem so dark. To those of you that say the cd "could have been better" clearly need to give it another listen. Annie is a true artist in every sense of the word! Stand out tracks for me are--dark road, love is blind, ghost in my machine and SING, featuring a choir of amazing female artists) Viva La Lennox!!Free Music Review: The long wait is over.......

I am a huge Annie Lennox fan and love that magnificent, honey laced voice of hers. At its best it soars like and eagle and dives live a whale. I love the album, SOMD, and the standout tracks for me are: Dark Road, Smithereens which I think is tied for best song on the album, Through The Glass Darkly, Lost which is the second song tied for best on the album, Big Sky, and Fingernail Moon. I am still waiting for Annie to progress from this melancholy, heartbroken phase and experience the sunshine again. There was a time when her music was fun like, Right By Your Side and I Need a Man. I hope the next album has more upbeat and happier songs than the dark and sometimes depressing, which still sounds beautiful but it's becoming the predominant mood of her albums. It seems that Annie has written a lighter album with Songs....when you compare it to Bare. I am a very late Annie lennox fan, but I LOVE THIS GAL!! I really enjoy the new younger girls..Duffy, Coco, Trista Prettyman, BUT I am aging and I can't relate so much with their world experiences so much. I love Annie because I get what she is experiencing. I wish more women writers and singers were as honest as her. I love her writing more than the actual music. I have really enjoyed recently getting all her albums recently and raging with her in the car, in house, and all over. Finally my husband came up to me while I was loudly playing "Sing"...and said..okay not every wants to hear the sisters singing!!!LOL!! Can't wait for her next album!! I am a fan!!!
