Annie seems to relinquish some of the past lush production in favor for some punchy and stripped down pop like only she can make.
I feel the centerpiece of this album (and possibly of her solo output) is 'Through the Glass Darkly'. This has a somewhat eerie vibe to it and her vocal is nothing short of brilliance in it. It's the perfect vocal track.
I think all the Britneys of the world should be locked up (possibly together) and forced to listen to some Annie. SOMD would be a nice starting place for them.

IMHO, Annie Lennox is one the UK's greatest singer-songwriters ever! This CD does not disappoint. It's has to be Annie's finest since "Diva".
The material is fresh, profound, playful and occasionally political; yet, it's the music which keeps it moving. There is no lull in this CD. Each song could be the 'freatured' song on just about anyone else's CD.
After 25 years of Annie Lennox, this listener is left to wonder - how does she do it and seem to get even better with time? An amazing talent!!!

Usually when you buy a CD, it's usually 1, 2 maybe 3 songs that you like and the rest are blah...OR---you buy a CD and the music has to grow on you after you've played it 5 or 10 times!
I have to say, I love this CD!!! The very first time I put the CD in, it put a smile on my face! You can tell that this was put together with some thought to it and not slapped together just to make a CD. Hats off to you Annie---I'm enjoying and loving every song on the CD!

Count me a NEW FAN ! Annie Lennox has always been on the edge of my listening taste , but I decided to check this new album out and I am so glad I did !! I am sooo.. Impressed by the writing, the incredible vocals, the mix and production. I see Glen Ballard has a hand in this and It sure didn't hurt ! Every song a gem.. One of the best ( if not the best ! ) albums I have purchased and listened to ( again and again ) this year ! DO BUY THIS ONE !! A new fan.....
