Free Music Notes for The Annie Lennox CollectionFree Music Review: I LOVE THIS DIVA! Hit: 5 Stars
I am so happy to have the cd of The Annie Lennox Collection. Its the best of the best of her four solo albums. Some of these songs might not stand out as "hits" to some people as some were hits in the UK and werent hits in the USA also a couple are fan favorites but all were singles (except for the two new songs "Shining Light" & "Pattern Of MY Life") which are both beautiful songs. Shining Light reminds me of THe Tourists..the band Annie was in with Dave Stewart before forming Eurythmics..I guess the closest to sounding like Shining Light from any Eurythmics song was probably There Must Be An Angel...its very refreshing and fun.
The collection is wonderful..also check out The Ultimate Collection by EURYTHMICS too if you havent already for Annie's best work with Dave as Eurythmics!!

Free Music Review: Awesome Collection! Hit: 5 Stars
Fans of Annie will love this collection! I keep a copy in my car for long rides and never tire of it. What an incredible voice and talent...one of the few artists who's voice alone can carry a song, even without the music. Sweet and powerful!
Free Music Review: Annie' Great! Hit: 5 Stars

Free Music Review: Lennox Redux Hit: 4 Stars
As a representative sample of Annie Lennox's musical career post Eurythmics, this collection is successful. As a collection of her best work, it is incomplete. Spanning her four independent albums of the last 17 years, it includes many of her radio hits, a few lesser known songs, and two new offerings "Pattern Of My Life" and "Shining Light." It is definitely a good mix of her music, but it doesn't include a few of her absolute best tracks. However, as always, Annie still is an American pop icon, and one of a very few singers who have the right to the title "Diva."
Missing from this collection is her amazing "Into the West" from the Lord Of The Rings Soundtrack, certainly one of her best and most beloved singles. Strange, considering her other soundtrack hit "Love Song For A Vampire" made the cut. I would also have loved to see "Primitive" from DIVA, which is probably one of her most overlooked songs. With it's slower beat and melodic string accompaniment, it would had been great to see it get a reintroduced to those who might have missed it the first time around.
I was happy to see the inclusion of some of her excellent tracks from BARE. "Pavement Cracks," is a great song from that album, and I was afraid it would get overlooked for a lesser offering like "Honestly" or "Loneliness."
I would have also liked to see "Don't Let it Bring You Down," from MEDUSA. A cover of Neil Young, it is another example of a great song that never made the pop charts, and would have benefited from a re-introduction.
This is the perfect collection for the passive Annie Lennox fan who wants a solid collection of her more popular tracks. If you already own many of her CDs, there isn't much new material, so I would recommend downloading the two new tracks and not buying the entire CD. Annie is still an amazing vocalist, and this collection is a reminder of that fact.
