Free Music Notes for Elis & TomFree Music Review: Elis & Tom. They live! Hit: 5 StarsThis the epitome of awesome music! Two giants of Brazilian and international music paired in one of the best ever Bossa Nova records. The music they make together has an inherent energy and romanticism that feels utterly free and endless.
Free Music Review: If I only had one Brazilian Album, this would be it Hit: 5 StarsI discovered this album because of the song, "Aguas De Marco." Each of the two artists is talented on his/her own; but, the combination is greater than the sum of its parts.
Elis Regina sings effortlessly, bringing authentic emotion to each song. Her voice can be sexy, sad, joyful, and even playful.
Tom Jobim's voice and music complement Elis Regina. Their music transports the listener back to a simpler time...even if that simplicity is mere illusion (i.e. 1974 wasn't a "simpler time").
PS--For those who like printed lyrics, this CD has all of the songs' lyrics in Portuguese, and they are all translated into English.
Free Music Review: A romantic and credible album by two Brazillian greats Hit: 5 StarsAntonio Carlos Jobim wrote some of teh most beautiful Brazillian jazz and Bossa Nova songs, and Elis Regina was one of the great Bossa Nova singers, so it was natural in the 60's taht they should collaborate. They did! And with loads of charm, roamnce, wit and sensuality. This albu mcaptures Regina at her peak, and the songs are exellent. The album has a Bossa Nova jazz flow, and Regina's vocals gently swing. A great album~!
Free Music Review: Elis & Tom - the best moment of the Brazilian popular music Hit: 5 StarsThis is a special disc. When Elis sings Jobim it's the supreme pleasure. For those who like Brazilian music this disc is essencial. Elis gives her best interpretation ever. She exceeds the expectations. Her way of singing "Águas de março" is the ultimate gift for our soul. It's difficult to choose the best music because all of them are "the best". But "Retrato em branco e preto" is unbelievable. The "Maestro" plays the piano and both - Elis and Jobim - deliver the most beautiful music ever. If one wants to have one disc of Brazilian music, this is the one. Attention to "Brigas, nunca mais" - Elis is pure rhythm. The booklet brings the lyrics in English and Portuguese, and you can see many pictures taken during the recording. It's worth and it's a great present to someone you love.
