Free Music Notes for The Girl From Ipanema: The Antonio Carlos Jobim SongbookFree Music Review: I don't care who you are; this CD is a must have. Hit: 5 StarsI purchased this CD over a year ago after I heard it in a coffee shop, but it wasn't until I started taking Brazilian Portuguese this past September that I realized that this album is a masterpiece. I wasn't a true fan of bossanova until I listened to this album. I also bought Red Hot + Rio when it first came out, which is an album of contemporary covers of Jobim's more popular songs, and they all sound so much better now that I have heard the originals. I listen to all types of music, from hardcore to rap, and I am not kidding you when I assure you that no matter what your tastes, you will find something to like about this album. Dindi makes me melt everytime I hear it.
Free Music Review: You will love this CD! Hit: 5 StarsI had never heard Bossanova until I bought this CD. I immediately fell in love with this Brazilian style of jazz - which Jobim popularized. Song #4 - O Morro Nao Tem Vez (Favela)- is my personal favorite.
Free Music Review: A superb compilation. Hit: 5 StarsThis CD is one of the best I own. Antonio Carlos Jobim was amaster songwriter; each song is charming and of the highest quality.I'm especially fond of Astrud Gilberto's vocals in three of the songs -- her accent is just lovely. Some of my favorite jazz singers (Sarah Vaughan, Shirley Horn and Ella Fitzgerald) also lend their voices to Jobim's songs. Jobim has a way of unobtrusively energizing the listener, making his music a splendid choice for just about any occasion.
Free Music Review: Great Bossanova!!!! Hit: 5 StarsI am a college student who recently just discovered Jobim's compositions. Jazz was a kind of music that had never interesed me before but after listening to this disk at a friend's house, I had to own it! There is a track (number 15) interpreted by one of the greats in Jazz Dizzy Gilespe (sp?) which is just simply Brillant. I listen to this track every morning before I go to classes, It just makes me want to go and conquer the world. I HIGHLY recommend this disk! especially if you are into Bossanova.
