Free Music Notes for Inquisition SymphonyFree Music Review: Better than the first, and the first was incredible Hit: 5 Stars
Apocalyptica is quite possibly the most original band to come along in decades. Being both a Metallica fan as well as a lover of classical music, I simply can't get enough of them. I own both of their discs, and while the first was great, I found the second to be even better. While the Metallica may not be as "pure" as on the first, the over all sound of the disc is megatons heavier. It'll wrench out your soul-- and those living near you. I also love the original material-- I'd like to see them put out an entire disc of their own stuff (I think it would be their best yet). If you enjoy metal, Beethoven, or John Williams, I suggest you pick this up.
Free Music Review: First was awsome; this one will blow you away Hit: 5 Stars
I was stunned, overwhelmed emotionally, then completely blown away. Driving a car, listening to "Nothing else matters" - my mind was carried away. Walking to my house, "Domination", then "Toreador" just struck me and shocked me like a lighting ball. They definitely took it to a higher level. Their power grew. Medieval times invade your mind and body. Stronger than Metallica itself (sorry, metallica fans). I like classic music as well as rock and metal. This combines both. If the first album was nice and pretty, just for my girlfriend (even though I enjoyed it very much), this album is amplified and magnified. It drives and possesses you, -- it will BLOW YOU AWAY.
Free Music Review: Symphony Fantastique! (no offense to Berlios) Hit: 5 Stars
Wow! I just can't seem to stop being wowed by this group. Even though I heard this album after I had already listened to Cult, I was blown away. The songs "Nothing Else Matters" and "Fade to Black" were gorgeously arranged-two thumbs up to Eicca Toppinen for his wonderful work. Even if you own Cult already, I'd recommend this album because it shows the progression of Apocalyptica's music, and shows the heavy metal roots in the more darkly soulful music on Cult. I'd also like to commemorate the song "Harmageddon", the first single written by Apocalyptica's composer and arranger, Eicca, as being sterling silver. It was wonderful.
Free Music Review: Amazing Hit: 5 Stars
Being a string player myself (although I play violin rather than cello) I have much respect for these students. When listening to the songs you can rarely tell that these are in fact cellos playing the music. It ranges all from the heavy hardcore impact of Metallica, to an almost classical sort of music. If you don't like the heavy classical music, this shouldn't turn you away and would open anyone's eyes to the horizons and capabilities of stringed instruments and hopefully deter stereotypes. This is an excellent buy for anyone with a like for Metallica, orchestral music, and diverse music lovers. ~ angel@angels-heaven.com ~ ~www.angels-heaven.com~
Free Music Review: Mind blowing Hit: 5 Stars
My college roommate and I were both huge Metallica fans, and he happened to stumble across Apocalyptica one day while surfing the web for Metallica items. As one reviewer pointed out previously, some of these tracks sound better than the songs by the original bands. "Toreador", which gets my pick for best track on this album, proves that you can bang your head just as hard to the sounds of four cellos, if not harder. You can appreciate Apocalyptica on their pure ability to rock as hard as the bands they're covering, but if you happen to have an appreciation for strings, it makes the experience even more enjoyable.
