Revolution Begins is a bargain-priced single intended to drum up interest in Arch Enemy's 2008 full-length album Rise of the Tyrant. The single includes four songs, two of which ("Revolution Begins" and "Blood on Your Hands") are from Rise of the Tyrant. It also features two non-album tracks, which are the only real reason to check out this disc.
The first non-album track is a cover of the Queensryche classic "Walk in the Shadows". Arch Enemy's thrashy, death metal version bears next to no resemblance to the original, but I love what they've done with it. The band has a definite talent for great covers, and this is no exception.
The other exclusive track is a live version of "I Am Legend/Out for Blood" from 2007. It's a decent enough recording, but live songs really don't do much for me.
I have a preference for actual CDs, and I found this one for a couple of bucks. Otherwise the smart money would have been to (legally) download "Walk in the Shadows". However you choose to do it, that song alone makes Revolution Begins worth checking out, even if you don't get much use out of the rest of the songs.
