Free Music Notes for Rare & Unreleased Recordings From the Golden ReignFree Music Review: WOW! Hit: 5 Stars
Absolutely amazing release.
I have'nt actually sat through both cd's yet, because this is almost too much.I take a bit in each day..Its almost "SOUL OVERLOAD"-As it says somewhere in the (great, intelligent, humourous, and loving) liner notes by the great Jerry Wexler.
The quality and musical level of these demoes, alt. takes and unreleased recordings are simply amazing.
There are nothing but highs on this cd, but so far the track "I Want To Be With You"stands out to me ,as one of the most beatiful songs I've ever heard. It starts of with Retha solo, and when the band comes in after almost 3 minutes of first rate soul singing, its more than i can take.. I think I'll be ready for another round tomorrow..
Excellent! Thank you for this treasure of a release!!!

First - Finally a collection of previously unreleased materials from the Queen of Soul!!! From these demo and live versions of some of our favorites makes this 2-disc set feel like a brand new album with a familiar feel. For the diehard fan, a MUST have in order for the collection to be complete. I love hearing her start and stop on some of the tracks as she is creating her genius and masterminding the anthems we all snap our fingers too and gleefully sing with every time we hear them.
Being that these songs were on the "shelf" for so long - we are getting a brand new album!!!
She is just plain wonderful, can't wait to see her again here in LA on Valentine's Day!!!
Long live the Queen!!!
Free Music Review: Rare & Unreleased Recordings from the Golden Reigh of the Queen of Soul Hit: 5 Stars
This tells it all. This truly is a must have for any "true" Aretha fan. I have been a fan of Aretha since day one. This could have been named "Aretha Raw & Released". It surely cuts right to the Soul. I am 62y/o and never thought I would hear Aretha sing like this again but thanks to this release, I feel 22 again. It makes me remember the 60's when we enjoyed "house parties" listening to Aretha's albums. It also remined me of being in Viet Nam (when back in base camp) how all us fellows couldn't get enough listening to Aretha on our "tape decks".
Thank you once again Ms.Franklin
Your Fan for Music Review: SHOULD HAVE BEEN TITLED 'KILLER DILLERS'!!! Hit: 5 Stars
What can I say that almost every Reviewer HASN'T already said about this Awesome Collection! Yeah, we were teased with B-Sides: "Pledging My Love"/The Clock", and "Lean On Me" back in the day...A handful of tracks seen the light of day on a few Compilations, but NEVER compiled on a massive Double Disc!!! Even the Demos are Great! This collection should have picked up a Grammy...WHY? We'll never know. This collection also includes a real nice booklet. Whatever you do DON'T PASS THIS ONE UP! It would be a SOLID INVESTMENT as well as an added PLUS to your Aretha Franklin collection!
Free Music Review: Do not miss this amazing collection Hit: 5 Stars
I always figured whatever Aretha did for Atlantic that was not released was every bit as excellent as her top hits. That's because I never heard any evidence of her doing anything less than brilliant. Everything here is amazing and some of it truly thrilling. She is more wild and free in many ways than on her familiar records and her original take on some of these songs and her high-powered improvisation is astounding. There's no one like her. Thanks to everyone who made this dream come true.
